In that video, I am kindof surprised that the reviewer thought that the Index was one of Gerber's first flippers... I guess he missed the 602, Evo, Razorfish, Torch, Counterpart, Oneflip... the Decree is S30V steel, relatively light and made in USA and also a flipper...
I'm not saying that Gerber didn't bring us another poorly made in china knife, or that they have ever made a decent flipper to compete in the BF-marketplace, only that flippers are NOT a "new" thing for them by any means.
And I agree with a post above that MAP will not likely impact Gerber's sales that much, depending on what they go with for each model. It wouldn't surprise me at all if most of Gerber's online sales come from ebay vendors, and I am not sure what impact they can have on auctions? For Amazon and Walmart and various sporting-goods stores, customers can go from "trying" the knife in a store and then buying it online for less (undercut the retailer) to simply buying it right there in the store. *shrug* Someone looking to spend $30 on a knife is still going to buy the Gerber over the $50-100 benchmade or spyderco unless they are a "knife-guy".
