Hello
I was just curious about the general opinion of people here on the subject of having Emergency Back pack in Ur trunk.
And what you guys keep there ? Flashlights? Busse ?
What about theft of it ? What you do to prevent that.
I wana upgrade my pack, with all the goodies, Surefire, Busse....and so on, but kinda worried about smash and grab

I'd tailor my load-out based on my geographic area and the vehicle I'm driving.

If you have an issue with crime and robberies, be careful. Maybe keep a budget emergency kit in the trunk. Skip the Busse and throw a Mora or two and an Estwing Hatchet in there.

If you're driving a sedan and you're literally throwing an emergency pack in the trunk, it won't be visible, and you won't be "targeted." However, you might end up a victim of random crime, never know.

If you have the ability and a reasonable way to keep it out of sight, I'd want the best equipment available to me should I ever need it.

I keep my stuff in my trunk or out of sight. I'm getting my windows tinted soon for this exact reason. I usually carry my pack with me instead of leaving it in the car. If i leave it in the car i make sure it's out of sight. My pack doesn't scream tactical either. It's a laptop back pack.

I live in earthquake country, and work 42 miles from home.
I keep a full emergency bag in my car with food bars, water packets, steel canteen & cup, fire starting gear, first aid kit with Celox, paracord, 1000 lb rope, duck tape, binoculars, etc.

I am lucky enough to be able to park right in front of our building and there is enough people coming and going all day that we haven't had any break-ins in the 4 years I've been there.
I also keep it quiet I have gear in my trunk.

I keep a few Busse/Kin in the mix to cover my bases:

Leatherman Charge TTi
Glock entrenching tool
A Surefire E2D and 8 extra CR123's
And I always have a couple folders and flashlights on me every day. (Today its an Olamic Wayfarer, a Ferrum Forge Fortis, Olight S1 Titanium, and a JetBeam Jet-IIM)

Just for good measure I have a DTBM tucked in my brief case and a Malkoff M61HO in an MD2 host.

Also, if you may have to ride the foot-mobile for a while, you may want to keep a pair of broken-in hiking boots, extra socks, pants/shirt and a poncho and liner in your kit.

Options.
I like Options. ;)

I want you to be near by when/if shit goes down lol Earthquake, flood and so on, i doubt we"d have a Zombie Apocalypse lol but you never know.
P.S.
Same hers, we live on an Earthquake fault line, and between my work and home is 10+ bridges, not to mention over/under passes, which would be closed for inspections and/or Emergency vehicles only. (They make us watch safety videos at the Foundry )

I carry an emergency pack in my FJ, and my emergency pack has a emergency pack. Along with a tool bag full of recovery tools, siphon, tow lines, come along that kind of stuff, spare belt and oil.

In my pack I have lots of emergency med supplies as that is what I have ended up dealing with waiting for EMT's to arrive. A Fenix flashlight, Boker Martin hollow handle, sharpener, spyderco folder, area topo maps, compass, protractor, box of 50 .40cals, emergency blankets, Gortex coat and depending on weather cold weather gear. I rotate out bottled water and a couple of stripped MRE's. Fire extinguisher, roof mounted high lift jack and shovel.

Which one Praetor? The black pack is just a common cheap tactical bag, not particularly good it was just laying around so I made use of it. The little multi cam pouch attached is a condor pouch, an admin pouch if I remember correctly. A few pockets and a transparent map holder inside, useful for topographic maps and a pen and pencil, grease pencil too along with protractor. They are pretty common and inexpensive.

I keep a duffle bag with some supplies..
My Honda has a spare tire compartment that makes a great hiding spot for a bag

I carry an Arcteryx Khard. Not a tactical looking pack at all, but the entire inside has Velcro for pouches, or if you're in the mood, an SBR and trappings. Mine functions as a full bug out bag with all the essentials (cordage, fire starting, water purification, first aid kit, rain gear, food, etc) I don't keep a fixed blade in it as, when I had my Jeep, I carried it in to work with me versus leaving it visible in the parking lot. Knives would always be locked up in the hidden cubby in the Jeep. If you want incognito, the Khard is great, though spendy and it is very versatile with the pouch mounting options inside.

3 things you need to live: Air, water, food.

After that, shelter and something to defend yourself. Everything else is for comfort.

The first 5 things are very easy to work out yourself. So here's some of the comfort items i bring:

Quality rain jacket that is large enough to wear over a warm jacket
Warm jacket
Beanie
Pair of runners
Socks
Old pair of jeans and a pair of shorts depending on the season i have options for both
Flashlight
Fire Kit
Basic Medical kit
Pen and paper

I carry light and cutdown everywhere i can. My goal with this car pack is to get home to my family and supplies. From there i can use those supllies to bug in or grab my bug out bag and leave.

If I ever move to the Great Northwest, you got it Brother! :D

Can you tell me more about Sewen in Traceable Tile plzz (PM if you want)

Tile is a small square item that you can use to track and find lost items. I have one on my keys, in my wallet, and one in those bags.

Just cut a hole in the inner liner and sew in velcro facing down to make a pocket that cant really be seen. Put the tile inside this hidden pocket.

If the item is stolen, you set the tile app to alert you when it is found.

When someone else who uses Tile connects to your tile, it will update the location on your phone and give you a pretty precise location.

I lost my wallet a year or so ago. Guy found it on the street and took it home, 20 miles away. The app gave me the location to his address. I got his phone number from his address, called, and got my wallet back. He was planning on mailing it to the address on my drivers license he said.

I lose my keys constantly. The tile will ring on your keys and help you locate them around the house as well.

I have 3 - one for each vehicle and one extra large one at the house. They all cover the basics - food, water, shelter, fire and first aid (needs improvement). Nothing special, but they give me peace of mind.

I have one with enough to survive a couple days at least.

Water and water filter bottle
MRE's
Tarp
Paracord
Stuff to make a fire
Flashlight
Mudd Mutt
1111
KDSH
At least two firearms always with me

I need to get a small first aid kit.

I shove it as far forward in the trunk as I can in a 2014 Honda Accord. Stays out of the the way for the most part.

Simple looking yet comfy backpack with nothing to attract attention
Full change of clothes with extra socks & grippies
Space blanket & Rain poncho & mosquito net which doubles as a live fish tank/trap/net in a pinch
Jacket appropriate for winter & Leather insulated gloves (I don't mind the cold as long as I'm not, no reason to assume room temperature any sooner than necessary)
About 12000 calories
Gallon of small water bottles
550 cord
Compass/mirror
Firesteel
P38
Soap & toothbrush
Basic 9
maybe some other goodies too
and since I actually use this pack out on the road more than I would prefer...

... TP & wet wipes! Y'all don't even wanna know what lacking those necessities is like when $#!t gets real halfway between '86 miles to next rest area'. :barf: :thumbdn: :o

Keeping it hidden near hazmat placards along with my general "scary lumberjack that looks like he might do wet work" appearance seem to deter cowardly thieves from any pondered temptation thus far. :) If you can't pull off gray man, you might as well go with crazy to keep 'em guessing since ya gotta work with whatchya got. ;)
