Hamilton Standard marked. Hamilton Standard was / Is a Hartford, CT based aerospace company and mad many if not most propellers in the pre-jet days then branched out.
An interesting story: Hamilton Standard and Sundstrand Aviation merged back in the day to become Hamilton Sundstrand. The company I retired from had made precision gears for Hamilton Sundstrand among other companies and I was a DSQR ( Designated Quality Source Rep) . One day the got a new contract and while I was performing a Contract Review I brought I logged into the HS supplier site to verify the part revision. Low and behold, there were two drawings listed with the same part number but different revisions. A further check showed one was a Sundstrand drawing for a Gear while the other was a Ham. Std drawing for a valve assembly; a copy of the gear drawing had been sent with the contract but the contract listed the valve drawing revision???. Quick call to the buyer to verify and OOPS let me check. They actually wanted the valve assembly; could we make it? Big No and certainly not for the price quoted for the gear. Contract cancelled: total time between starting my review and contract cancellation was about 45 minutes. I found out from talking to the buyer that in the old pre-merger days both companied used a drawing number system that generated the same number in some cases as the other company. Changed post merger but a problem for older seldom purchased items. The buyer said that they had just looked at the first drawing, saw it was a gear and sent the quote to us without bothering to check the other drawing.
Anyway, I saw this knife listed ande had to have it.
