got bit by SY Scrapper6 (first aid content!!)

Good work buddy! haha. The good ol' HEST bit me a few months back, gave me 9 stitches in the thumb, so I can feel your pain.

Sorry to hear about this mishap. Look after your wounds! Lay-off that fatwood for awhile, you must have 4-5 cords of the stuff by now! Mersyndol - over the counter - good stuff. Keep us posted.

One of my best cuts was from my then brand new RAT 7. I pulled it from the sheath by the thong, and it flipped over, landing on the base of my right thumb.
Cut it all the way to the bone, and the cut was over an inch and a half long.
Took awhile to stop the bleeding, but it healed just fine.

My wife shudders every time I buy a new knife, as she knows at some point it will draw fresh blood. :o

You are a true W&SS friend to take pics before getting fixed up. I think the rule of thumb with things like this is if you will not pass out and die out or just die in the time frame it takes to take a few pics, you must take the pics. If you're going to die, then it's OK to skip the pics before, but you must take pics after.

did the same thing a few years ago while whittling. Healed nicely on it's own although it took a long time to regain complete feeling in the finger tip.

makes my butt clamp shut in empathy.

gnarly.

the worst thing about getting cut by a good blade is you usually don't feel it hardly at all and then you have to force yourself to look at it to see how bad it is. - so you get the pain and the suspense....

heal up, brother. prayers for a full recovery.

superglue!

Closing a wound on the hand and particularly on a finger is difficult and has the potential of causing severe motor or sensory issues if you do it incorrectly. Sew or glue it wrong, causing a lesion over a tendon or nerve and you could have damage for life.

That's why the ER doc wouldn't close it. It takes a specialist.

That's also why guys who THINK they know something about survival and medicine but really have no training beyond first aid (I would bet) have no business packing superglue, skin staplers, or suture kits.

And I'm not even going to begin to lecture about microbiology and aseptic technique.

Thats like I like knives, you know. They dont have loyalties, they cut whatever is in front of them :) Hope your finger stitches/surgery goes very well so you can get back to playing with knives real soon...
