Thanks bud! I used plain old yellow mustard. They look good Cam! How did you patina them? They look pretty uniform in appearance....outstanding job.
If you want to do so and need a step by step of what I did just PM me. I'll walk you through it.Mustard FTW!!!Nice work!
I've beaten enough of the coating off at this point, I should strip my 1311...
Nope, no need, I use mustard ALL the time for the forced patinas! If you want to do so and need a step by step of what I did just PM me. I'll walk you through it.
I have tried that, and it doesn't turn out very uniform. If a uniform finish is what you're after, soak it in warm vinegar for a little bit (that's what's in the mustard that makes it work so well). I've done that with a number of smaller blades with great success. My MEGA Warden looks like it has been parkerized.Very cool. Have you or perhapsSpyderPhreak ever tried to do a uniform coating of mustard over the entire blade to effectively blacken the whole thing? I wonder how that would look and work compared to bluing?
You ever posted pics of it? Went looking through your posted images a few pages deep and didn't see it.
Here it is, at the end of the patina contest thread. You ever posted pics of it? Went looking through your posted images a few pages deep and didn't see it.
This is absolutely true. I've tried and never been able to get a truly uniform color from mustard. I only try weird patterns with it. White vinger works really good.. apple cider vinegar also works as well imo.I have tried that, and it doesn't turn out very uniform. Thanks guys, I appreciate itVery Nice.
Thanks man. The stripper did a lot of the work. I just sanded it down to a decent satin (150, 300, and stopped at 400)nice job. you are more patient than i.
I appreciate that man! This deep patina is pretty sturdy as well. I batoned through a couple logs today and it didn't do too awful much to it.Awesome work!! They turned out fantastic!
