The knife is sweet and a real user to;)
I do however not undestand why these buuse knives do not come from the factory with a sharp edge? The edge on this knife is not even close to sharp.
Maybe Busse combat should hire the guy that puts edges on Cold steel knives they come supersharp from the factory:D
Why can´t Busse knives come that way?
I will do it myself and having fun doing it with my 10" Arkansas stones.;)

Cheers,

André

Book'em

I will smoke the dam pipe when I feel like it:D I only smoke when I go hunting or when I have a nice day in the forest with my knives;)

I would like to hear if anyone also got dull Satin Jacks LE´s, or was is only #9 that had a bad edge?

Cheers,

André

They should all be very sharp, easily able to shave, push cut paper, etc. . Even on larger knives this is what you want as the edges are actually more durable this way besides cutting better.

Trust me, you are NOT the only one with an unsharp knife that cost $427.

In fact, I've not heard of anyone that has received a shaving sharp edge on that one.

It is disappointing, for sure, since my $39.95 Spyderco is not only shaving sharp, but SCARY shaving sharp.

I know I can fix the edge, but I'm waiting for an Edge Pro so I can do it right and consistently.

I've not received a shaving sharp knife from the Swamp or Busse for about 10 knives now......:grumpy:

David, I'm sorry you've received some defective knives that slipped through quality control. If you ship them to me I will take care of them.....;)

My Satin Jack knife looks like the edge is all wrong more like an axe edge, to steep. The angle is all wrong for a convex grind IMO. I can make it right but I would need to remove lots of metal.
The handle slaps are not in contact with the blade in the front of the handle

Like David I am a little disapointed with this knife. The two HOFSH LE knives I own are way better in finish and sharpness.

Cheers,

André

The handle slabs should be flush, they are abrasive otherwise, aside from aesthetic considerations. The edge can be reground custom if you send it in, but if you can sharpen a knife yourself this doesn't make much sense. Ordering it with a thinner edge initially is an option as well.

I did! After about 4 or 5 swipes on ultrafine sharpmaker rods it was as sharp as any spyderco, now my pd variant was quite dull, but not anymore ;)

Sorry to hear about your disappionting experience, but my experience was not disappointing. #227 wasn't quite as sharp as my military, but very sharp. It's a much thicker blade, though it had no trouble shaving the hairs off of My arm. I'm sure that the strop could improve the edge, just a little, but it doesn't need it, yet.
The scales fit perfectly and I'm very pleased.
Maybe they just needed a llittle more practice, since yours was one of the first batch. By the time they made 227 of them, they got pretty good at it.

For the past couple of months I haven't received a sharp Busse knife either, but like Beef, I fixed them in short order with just a few swipes on a rod.

Guys, if you REALLY have a gripe about this, have you bothered to contact Jerry?

A couple of Extravaganzaas ago, I won a Satin Jack Variant. It got here and was literally duller than a butter knife. I sent a private email to the boys and they made it right, no muss no fuss. Turns out mine was the photo shoot knife and they send them the dull ones so they don't hurt the poor photographer....

I'm going into the sharpening room tomorrow and I'm telling those guys to flip the belts over and start using the abrasive side!!!! ;)

Please remember that comparing a folding knife with a very thin, hollow ground blade and edge, that is only designed for slicing, to a much more robust knife designed for heavy field use can be an unfair comparison. HOWEVER, there is NO excuse for you guys to be unhappy with your edges. . . Every knife that leaves this shop should be shaving sharp. . . Period!

If you are unhappy with the edge you receive, please give us the opportunity to make it right. And trust me. . . WE WILL MAKE IT RIGHT!

We have NEVER left a customer unsatisfied. . . EVER!

Thanks boys!:D
