Got drunk. Lost knife.

Your DS had the right idea. I've got a J.D., and I'm fond of saying that "that and a dime will get you a cup of coffee." (Guess I'm datiing myself there; good luck getting a cup of coffee for a dime anymore.)

Look where you took your pants off. Depending on whom you had helping you celebrate, this might be quite a project.

Congrats on your phd, now go get drunker and return to the scene of the crime. Maybe you'll remember then, :D:D

Congrats on the degree!I lost a little Gerber Gaurdian in Oceanside,Ca.about 27 years ago,I was drunker than hell. With the PHD your earnings should be high, which means you can afford to get a really sweet knife. But,that depends on if you have to pay back a mega loan.

i had a similar experience recently with my brand new kershaw breakout the first time i ever carried it i went to a party had a few drinks when i got home i realized it was gone, luckily i called back to the party and my friend found it layin on the ground! the pocket clip on that thing sucks its too small and dosent ride deep enough loosing a knife sucks but i dunno which is worse loosing a brand new one or a trusty old one

That's too bad that you lost your knife and it suck even more that a phd does not = doctor

Quite. They don't call it 'Piled Higher and Deeper' for nothing. Though since it stands for Doctor of Philosophy, I'll probably still call myself Doctor now and then, just for shits and giggles.

Congrats on the degree. Don't come to California, assistant professors here are losing their jobs and even tenured people are taking 10-15% pay cuts with the forced furlough days.

That bites, but a tenured, Full Professor in Canada generally makes between 90-100,000 grand, so I think I'd not be too bummed about losing 10% if it meant I kept my job;)! 80,000 is better than a kick in the ass.

Good luck with the job. Don't come to New York either. They have a 20% furlough on the table.

Sorry about the knife! I've never lost anything when I was drunk.
