Congrats on the degree!I lost a little Gerber Gaurdian in Oceanside,Ca.about 27 years ago,I was drunker than hell.With the PHD your earnings should be high,which means you can afford to get a really sweet knife.But,that depends on if you have to pay back a mega loan.

i had a similar experience recently with my brand new kershaw breakout the first time i ever carried it i went to a party had a few drinks when i got home i realized it was gone, luckily i called back to the party and my friend found it layin on the ground! the pocket clip on that thing sucks its too small and dosent ride deep enough loosing a knife sucks but i dunno which is worse loosing a brand new one or a trusty old one

That bites, but a tenured, Full Professor in Canada generally makes between 90-100,000 grand, so I think I'd not be too bummed about losing 10% if it meant I kept my job! 80,000 is better than a kick in the ass.
