Since this is supposed to be about skills, maybe I shouldn't be posting this here. If that's the case, I apologize. This is about PSK gear you could say.
Remember that nearly starved Indian found in California almost a hundred years ago? He was called Ishi, though that wasn't actually his name. He was not "the last of the Mohicans," but he was probably the last of the Yanis or very close to it. Ishi was befriended by and cared for by a couple of academics. He lived among the white men until he died of disease several years later. Much was learned from Ishi during that time. I read long ago that he regarded glue as the single most important development of our culture, and he carried more than one kind in his ever present kit.
Remembering Ishi's thoughts on glue, some of you might want to consider adding just a little to your kit, too. I would like to suggest a stick or two of the stuff that is used in "hot glue guns" for craft work etc. These are little flexible plastic sticks about 4 inches long that can be used by simply melting the end with a match, lighter, or in the edge of your campfire, then quickly dobbing it onto whatever you need to make or repair. Improvised projectile points come to mind. These glue sticks come in high and low temperature versions. Take your pick. Some are round and some are flattened.
That's just my little suggestion for the day.
