Got it narrowed down to either G10 Dragonfly or Cat

Handling the Sage is nice for sure. I'm glad I got it. Having a Millie and a Para has also got me spoiled by lightweight and G10. At this point I am sure I'd enjoy the D'fly over the Cat. The S30V on such a knife is not at all necessary as it would not see the type of use that would push steel. VG10 is no slouch either!

Vg10 is excellent steel. I have a Spyderco kitchen knife in VG10 that I have been using for almost a year and a half on veggies and pineapple, and anything else it is suited for in the kitchen. I checked yesterday, and it will still shave hair. I have never sharpened it.

Good choice. I liked the materials and design of the Cat but I was unimpressed with the f&f.

I just got a Chicago, and feel the same about the fit and finish. And the blade grind does not taper consistently -- its "lumpy" causing a very uneven edge bevel. Also, unlike every other Spyderco I've ever had, the edge bevel it came with was about 20 degrees on one side, and 30 degrees on the other, so it was impossible to touch up with a Sharpmaker out of the box. So I reprofiled it on the Harbour Frieght belt sander.

I had a SS Dragonfly and the fiit and finish on that knife was really nice.

Bottom line -- I'd go for the Dragonfly.

I've heard that the fit and finish of the G10 Dragonfly ranks with the best of all of Spyderco's offerings. Compare that with the Cat which has had a number of QC issues. If the $30 isn't a huge deal, I'd recommend the G10 Dragonfly.

Oh man this is so true. My G10 D'fly has been with me for a while now and every time I handle this little jewel I am still in awe of the amazing precision of the fit, finish, and build quality. Operating the knife... it feels like a swiss built precision instrument, tiny, but so solid and precision-built.

I can confirm what you're heard about the fit and finish on the G10 Dragonfly; I can't imagine any Spyderco or any other knife surpassing this little gem in build quality... it's that perfect. I'm actually more impressed with the build quality of this little G10 D'fly than I am with my (excellent) Sage 1.

Total thumbs up recommendation to anyone who might be considering a Dragonfly to go for the G10 D'fly. Yes it's a costly little bugger, but worth every cent and more.
