well my old camera kinda crapped out on me after i took some pictures of my forge at 2300 deg ;). also i lost the battery charger. it was a very nice camera and still is but some times it has problems with color. so i have been putting off getting a new one for awhile but I have been making knives and not taking pictures of them because of the lack of a camera. so today i scored a brand new Lumix DMC-TZ5 for 130 bucks :D. and i must say WOW. i just snapped some quick pictures of the knife bubba-doll got for the X-mass exchange so see what it would do on Intelligent auto mode. I did not mess with any auto fetures at all just put it in auto mode and put the knife in my light box and these are the first 2 pictures i took of the knife. i must say agian WOW, now to play with the manual settings and realy see what this puppy can do.

Very nice camera! I'm planning on buying a sony alpha a700 once I get about $1000 dollars... which will probably be never.

I was looking at a Nikon d40x but i could not justify 450 bucks yet. I mean i had the funds but there are other things i need more like a mini hydraulic forging press.

Don't cough up the extra $$ for the D40x. The extra MP's are really not worth it. The D40 is affordable and a really fantastic camera. Aside from knives, I'm a camera nut too :D

I have been fighting the desire to become a camera nut as i allready have to many expensive hobbies

Really nice pictures. I am going to buy one of those photo tents tonight. My father just gave me his Canon Rebel XT SLR camera as he just upgraded so I can't wait to try it out.
