Traded some of my other folders and picked up an Endura 4 in foliage green G-10. Beautiful. I've been carrying a Manix for years and it's been the best folder I've ever had but it was time for it to be retired so I started buying folders trying to find a match.

Nothing felt right until this Endura. Two Benchmades, three Kershaws, a CRKT, two Bucks. They were all really nice knives, but the Manix always ended up back in my pocket.

This Endura feel just right, looks great and has the typical Spyderco quality.

I also scored a Native that's living in my wife's pocket. I've given her 5 or 6 knives over the years and this is the first one she's really liked.

I'm a Spyderco and RAT guy for good now. I shall stray no more.:D

Thank you Sal.

I agree completely, and I to am a Spyderco/RAT guy for good. However, I cant guarantee only rats and spydies. 90% of them will be though :)

I've never heard of a Manix being ready for retirement. I kind of assumed when mine is ready it will be my great grandson's knife. Is it really worn out?

I carried this knife for years working in an injection molding shop. That Manix and my Leatherman Wave were used, seriously, hundreds of times a day each. Opening bags of raw material, trimming the gates on parts, picking plastic out of and off of tooling. You name it.

Both of them are still functional, I try to use them as they were made to be used, but the pivot is fairly worn, alot of blade play both ways, alot of wear on the G-10, the clip has been bent back into shape more times than I can count. It's pretty hammered.

Not saying it's not durable, it's still a good, functional blade, but it's pretty long in the tooth.

Good move on the Endura, can't go wrong with that classic. In fact, it doesn't hurt to have a few of them:thumbup:

I got an Endura Gen. 3 some years back. Simple, functional and handy. No wonder it "endures" as one of Spyderco's flagship models all these years. It's now with my dad who seems to be never without it.

Now with a thicker tip, green G10, enhanced ergos and multi-clip positions a good folder just became better.

It's a great blade. I've been carrying it for a few days now and I really love it.

I've been using S30V for a long time and had forgotten how quickly other steels loose their edges, but a few quick swipes on a fine DMT and the VG-10 was back to razor sharpness.

My experience has shown VG10 to be very comparable to S30V. But.. my only S30V blade is a Native.

I have an endura 4 too and also love it... its quality and performance has lead me to be a spydie lover and thats all i well ever carry

Gosh i would really like to see a worn out spyderco like you described. I am not doubting it at all. Just would like to see pics.

I just got my first Endura and I'm blown away. Perfect size for my hands, beefy lockup, flawless fit and finish. Awesome.

Shotgunner11, hope you don't mind me jumping into your thread.:D

congrats on the endura , great knife
and yeah, pics of the used manix ...
i would like to see also a used military ....

I have carried 2 endura 4's (1 PE 1 SE) every day for 3 years. I have run them through the ringer and and they are still going strong. At the rate they are going I should have at least 10 years of hard use left in them.
