Stopped by the Cabelas in Sydney, Nebraska (my favorite store), and picked up a 110. There was a drop point (500, 501?) that was seriously tempting me, but thought the first Buck knife should be the venerable 110.

Wow. The fit and finish are great, the blade is nice and tight, the action is exactly the level of stiffness that I like, and the sharpness is the best I've seen out of a production knife. REAL sharp! I even like the smell of the oil used, what is it?

Thanks to all on this forum for the recommendations, it's time to go find something to cut! :D

As long as you don't CUT yourself - cut away!! When your arm gets tired cutting and you find you still have a finely sharpened edge, you know another reason why we love the Bucks - they stay much sharper much longer. And when the time comes to touch up the edge, you'll be amazed how easy that is as well.....

Congrats on your first BUCK !!!!

Hey Swede

Welcome to the buck family...

I have to say that since the cost of a #110 is about the same as it was 20 years ago it is the best deal in all of knifedom...and we have gotten better at it after all these years.

Enjoy the knife.

Thanks CJ! The more I use this knife, the more that I like it. Thanks, and I appreciate your response!

-edited for syntax, gotta quit drinking and posting... ;)
