Update - minor issue.
When re-cocking the blade, it seems to require a
much firmer press than before to stay cocked (more below). It also fires easier, so I expect these two changes in operation are related. Now, if you do not
firmly press the blade all the way down when re-cocking, it may fire unexpectedly. I had noticed that on some occasions that an attempt to flick open manually would result in the blade actually firing rather than just manually opening. Some experimenting showed that the blade was not completely cocked & locked in these circumstances (although it would not fire from the exact same level of cocking before) and required not much more than to touch the blade to fire.
And now it occasionally fires without even being touched. I had it in my hands, palms open, touching nothing and the blade fired. Puzzling at first. But with a little more investigation, I found that a very firm re-cock will keep that from happening. At least for now. It will be interesting to see if this is normal or if it is a flaw. As the knife continues to break in, it may or may not get worse. A random firing auto, without a physical, secondary lock, is not a good thing.
Time will tell, and perhaps a call to BM to ask about this next week would be justified. Either way, I'll keep the forum up to date on what I find and how the knife performs as it continues to age and see use.
Talked to cutomer service and the movement on the blade is normal on those with autos. Love this knife. It is worth the price of 510 or 600. It is a unlimited limited and will only be around for a short time. This knife in my opinion is just as good as any other hard use ti liner lock. Get one if you can, you won't be sorry.
And thanks for this. Much appreciated!
