That's interesting. I just read the thread over and over again, and I didn't see where someone asked a question about a slippery grip, that's why I puzzled over the one-liner. Certainly the last few posts before it had nothing to do with the grip.
It wasn't a solution to a problem, but a recommendation for improved performance. A little cryptic, I'll admit, but I was just fooling around and wanted to see who'd get it and who wouldn't.

For about $3, you can dramatically improve the grippiness of the scales, which are a little too slick for my preferences. It takes a little tugging and rolling (be careful not to slip and cut yourself) to get the inner tube section over the butt of the knife, but it's worth it.

Some folks keep survival items in the scales of the knife. With the inner-tube grips, you can simply roll them off to get at the hex bolts and retrieve your items.

Here's a pic of my BK7 with the inner tube add-on. It even matches nicely.

Lots of folks are happy with the scales as they are. Some folks have had the scales bead blasted. Others have tried the fancy micarta scales. Both routes give you scales that are more "grippy." The inner tube idea (saw it over in Wilderness & Survival, I believe) is just a nice low-tech approach.

However you cut it though, the BK-7 is a solid performer at a great price.

I reprofiled the edge on my BK9 to 10 degrees right away. After some luvvin' on the leather strop, and a little time on the ceramics, it's so sharp that my neighbor's wife refuses to touch it when her husband tries to hand it to her to "see how sharp it is."

My Bk10 De-ninjafied. I ran out of sandpaper though.. the steel wrecks havoc on sandpaper. I wanna get a mirror finish on it =) will take a hell of a lot of work though

I think it looks very nice. "Made for work". I like it. I might even look for a red or orange tube. Haven't been on a bike in 20+ years, don't know if you get get tubes in bright colors these days.
