And, damn. Simon got this thing really sharp. Slices hanging newspaper with ease, and I tested it on some fuzz sticks and it knocked them out easy. Now I think this knife can fully live up to the potential it has.

If you need something made sharp, send it to Simon. That's a fact.

p.s. I'll try to get some pics up soon, but it's getting late and I need to grill. :D

PB Wilson, i use a small belt sander (1x30 harbor freight) with klingspor and 3M belts, followed by a power strop. i typically start with either an 80 or 120 grit belt to set the bevel and move down through the grits to a 15 micron belt (~1200 grit). this is followed by a course and a fine power strop to further polish the edge. then i hand strop to remove any burr left. i pretty much just freehand it and eyeball it.

the best trick for getting a sharp edge is to make sure that you have a burr along the entire edge before you move onto the next grit. this will ensure that your edge is even and that both sides of the blade are meeting to actually make an edge.

if you have any specific questions feel free to email or post a visitor message to my profile.

Thanks for the details. I'm hoping to drop some money on a Delta 1x42 sander for sharpening and woodwork sometime after the new year. I've heard such good things about your skills I wondered if you were using a belt sander and Lee Valley belts as taught in some sharpening threads I've read. I'll keep in mind your tip about the burr along the entire edge. Thanks.
