So far it hasn't. The blade is so big it doesn't have room to open.
I had 8 Sak's i know for a fact those these open up. It's not just one or two faulty ones.

Solid lock up and with the stainless steel spyderco's they have little to no blade play. It needs a good sharpen.

It looks to be a original police model as the pat. Pending number is on the belt clip. Very solid knife. Might be the best knife I owned.
