Thanks Rudeco!

Congratulations and welcome to the obsession!

Thanks. I had a funny experience earlier tonight. I was sitting on the step to a friends CHU with a couple guys here and without thinking I pulled out my knife and started cleaning my nails. That itself is nothing, we're all used to knives and weapons in general, but one guy next to me asked me what kind of knife I had, so I handed it to him. He looked at it blankly, but the guy next to him said "Damn, I never thought I'd see a chick with a Hinderer!"

hahahaha

What the heck is a CHU???

Hell, I didn't know you were a "she" either. . . :o

I just took a closer look at the pics and noticed the finger tips. I can see it. . . ;)

Containerized Housing Unit. It's the metal buildings we live in here in Iraq.

That's because you can't see me. The guys here know I'm a she about the average age of thier mothers, and always have to look and see what knife I have that day.

Thanks Rudeco!

Damn, that's hot! ;) :D Congrats on your XM-18! I'm a big fan of his folders as well. (as I sit here playing with an XM-24 :))

Pretty sure it's military slang for a Containerized Housing Unit.

Lone Wolf, you're hot. Nice story, I also have to look more closely at your hands and fingernails. I bought an XM-24 a few months ago and been carrying it ever since. Just curious, where did you buy your knife? Be careful in Iraq and thank you for keeping us safe by being in the front line. You rock.

Now I'M jealous. I'm going to get an XM-24 direct from Hinderer as soon as they do the next run. I'm sooooo tempted to get the Ti handle, too.

Congrats LW. Post up some pics of the 18's travels over there and be safe.

I'll have to do just that. And thanks, I sure try! ;)

How do you like the flipper so far?

It's great. Easiest flipper I've used. In fact I got comfortable with it so quickly that I'm already willing to carry it closed, but in hand around the rougher parts of base. It takes less than a second to snap it open with either hand. Very solid lockup, too.

Of course I'm hot, I'm in Baghdad! It still gets over 110 degrees during the day.:p :D

I got mine from the for sale forum, this thread. I'll be getting my next one direct from the man.

Thank you, and you're very welcome.

and safety! I hope you get many years of use with that knife. It came to me direct from Hinderer. Then to you! It is a tank, and The red handles are nice because RH kind of ident's himself with fire & rescue - I like the red a lot!

Be sure to put those bronze standoffs on it too! Pimp it!

All the Best, Enjoy! Thanks for the pics and I'm glad it made it there safe!

Thanks!

When I saw the pics I had every intention of running a thread to try to swap the red scale for a color I like better, because I normally don't like red. But when I got it, I kind of like the dark, muted red that it is. Between that and RH's own history I think I'll leave the red scale right where it is.

Until I get that titanium scale I want, that is.............. :D

Still my alltime favourite folder.
How I got it:

After I put a foliage green scale on it:

So far, no other folder comes close. I will get an XM-24 someday.

Beautiful Knife, I Want One So Bad, It's Pretty Ridiculous. I Would Give My Right Arm And Leg And My Entire Knife Collection For An XM-24 Flipper With Blue G-10. Anyone Interested In A Right Arm, A Right Leg, And An Instant Knife Collection? Lol.

I have been trying to replace my lost XM and have been missing the 6 week window for the past few months. I'm holding out with hope, but I keep getting tempted by other knives.
