Got my first knife (Reate Horizon C) "REK'd", perfect Cerakote job by Josh.

Glad everyone likes it! Cerakoting always takes a lot of love in to every project hehe, it is very time consuming but worth it imho!

I'm wondering how the cerakote will hold up after some hard use and time, especially the blade?
Congrats RarestRX
Mike

Mike, I've got a couple cerakoted blades out right now on a passaround... not too late to sign up if you wanna test out the cerakote on it to get first hand experience w/ it and put it through it's paces. see my sig line...Thanks for the kind words too bro, much appreciated.

Mike, you know those guys who never use their blades and only carry them for self defense? Who send their knives back to the factory to get sharpened because they can't do it themselves?

Yep, that's me.
Nothing wrong with this, nothing wrong with carrying knife for SD, whatever flies your kite.
Tacticool indeed but looks very well done, congrats !
I'm also impressed by your pictures, great job !

4.0 Megapixels baby!

:D

I'm great believer that it's not always what you're using, it's how you're using it :D

I remember my first digital camera. 1 Meg and the size of a large 35mm camera. It took great pics. I have a 5 meg right now and it is very hit or miss. My Iphone takes great pics though.

Awesome, nice choice of colors:thumbup:

I recently put an orange-peel finish on mine:)

Then I anodized it...

I might go back to the silver color; the anodizing looks kinda ghetto imo:D

How did you do the orange peel? Looks really clean. I have seen it on guns but never really liked it,the finish seemed to large for me.

Did you do some kind of media blast?

How did it help with the traction?

You should have seen how gently I placed it on the ground for those photos...like a newborn babe on a pillow. :o

I am pretty certain that the Cerakote is really durable.
I think Josh made a video showing the durability and wear.....

Wow that looks amazing. I am a sucker for OD Green and black together on a knife it just about anything for that matter!!

Another testament to the fine work that Josh at REK provides. That looks like it came from the factory like that..........wait, no it doesn't...........it looks better than anything that would have come stock.

Wait--- you made the orange peel with a wire brush on a bench grinder? How does a spinning wire brush make that perfect orange peel texture? I figure it'll just make linear scratches. Care to elaborate? I wanna learn how to do THAT!!! :)

So, that's two of us that want to know about this wire fu of yours. Dare to elaborate, WAKAH!!!!!!
With a wire wheel on a bench grinder. ~$15 at a local hardware store.

It doesn't feel much different to me. I did it mostly for aesthetical and recreational purposes.

It's simple, take the grinder with wire wheel and just run the metal up and down on it and it will come out like that. I am a welder\ fabricator and I have done this a million times.
The steel wires are not strong enough to to make deep cut lines like you were talking about, they tend to brake off or get worn down. Just the nature of the beast

I will add, to get that uniform and consistent look, it will take practice and a pattern without going back over what you have already done. Same thing with a tiger disc if you want a smooth non over lapping pattern
