Ok i've been carrying a kershaw cryo that i just wasn't happy with. Today while standing at the time clock waiting for it to say 2:30 so we can clock out and go home, a coworker who is a fellow gun nut and we talk guns and show each other our latest aquisitions all the time was standing next to me. And i noticed he had an odd looking knife clip on his pocket. I asked him what he was carrying & he said ah just an old spyderco and handed it to me. Turns out to be an old endura, it says clipit endura on the handle and one side of the blade says spyderco g-2 stainless the other side says seki-city japan. I know nothing really about spyderco but have been wanting to try one. Anyway he asks what i'm carrying and i handed him my cryo and was telling him what i dont like about it, & he says well if you wanted a spyderco i would trade you. So long story short i got my first spyderco on a whim at the timeclock today :D

And so it begins. Sounds like you got an oldie but a goodie. Spyderco's are great knives and for some have a cult like following. Personally I have 8, but that pales in comparison to many. Enjoy the new (to you) Spydie!

Awesome! I have a Cryo G10 and much prefer the feel of it in my hand over the original Cryo. But it has been getting less and less pocket time since I started acquiring my Spydies.

Yep you're doomed. I bought a FRN Goddard in the late 90's. I carried it for the next 10 years exclusively. Then I bought another nib Goddard, but I couldn't make myself use it. So I bought an endura, then traded something for a waved delica. in the last 3 months, I bought a Manix Xl, I liked it so much I bought a regular g10 Manix. Did I mention I have a PM2 on preorder. Yep you're doomed :D

...and don't neglect to get some Spydies in Super Blue steel...particularly, the Caly series...

I know pretty much nothing about different steels, i know when i carry my case knives i have to oil them because the get little rust spots, thinking of getting a tenacious for my soon to be step son. At 12 yrs old every little boy should have a pocket knife

I picked up a super blue endura a while back, and I could not be happier with its performance. It CUTS, and thats all there is to it.

Congrats !
That was my first model too.
Got it in the early 90's and its still going strong.
Its the smoothest lock-back I've ever had. Opens smooth as silk, and when you depress the lock the blade drops fully.

Congrats! I just ordered my first this morning. Plain old flat ground Delica with brown FRN. I hear delica is a good model to start with.

It's a great model to start with. Truly a definitive model in the Spyderco lineup that shows what Spyderco is all about. It's like a gateway drug though, and you'll almost certainly wind up with some companions to go with it.

Very glad to hear it! It will also be my first good blade steel, well along with the beast of a knife I ordered with it but that's too big to EDC at work so the Delica will be seeing quite a bit of pocket time :) I have a feeling it will be the first of many which I'm very excited about. Can't wait for it to arrive and see what I've been missing all this time :D
