I got my first tomahawk this weekend well I actually found it at my mothers house in my brothers stuff. I am not sure of the brand but it looks almost identical to a cold steel frontier hawk except the blade is straight down not tapered. I did some chopping and attempted throwing. It really chops well and feels balanced. I tried to do some finer cutting like making firesticks which was not as easy as I thought but it would do if needed to use in that manner. The tomahawk is a very useful design.

May need to thin the head down some if you want to do fine work like you're talking about. I prefer them thinner than CS (if that's what you have) tends to make them.
