Hi all!

I finally got my first ZT. After weeks waiting and paying quite alot cash ( my 2nd most expensive folder and knife generally ) I got my ZT 0500 Mudd. And all I can say is: Wow this solid piece of knife! Its big but surprisingly light for something its sized. Excellent Fit and Finish. Razor sharp.

I've just fiddled it bit. Opens really smooth and feels good. I can use my gloves to open knife, very rare. Is as big. Its as big as similar sized than any of my puukkos. Only my Utility and survival knife and my khukri is bigger. This is no urban EDC knife this is the real deal working folder I have been looking. Something that will go very well backing up the Becker BK-7 or similar knife.

Man I can't wait to get use this in camping and such! This knife is, well its hard describe, so I just say you need experience this yourself. This won't be my last ZT knife. Next one I'll get is even heavier ZT 0200.

I'll post photo's later.

Congrats on your score! The whole ZT line is as solid as they come. I have the ZT0300 and it is a tank of a folder. I think know what you are try to describe about the knife, my 300 is solid, beastly knife but still operates smoothly.

I got a MUDD blem from the forum here, and it is a great knife.

I also have a 0200, and a 0301.

I hate to say it, but of all three my fav is the 0200.

I can't wait to see what they have in store for this year.

What impressed me about the MUDD blem is the fit and finish on it is better than some knives which are not blems!!

BTW - if you want a cheap spanner tool - go buy yourself a 2 pack of 1/16" drill bits (cheapest ones) and put them in opposing holes on the same side of the knife. You can turn the pivot easily that way.

Thank you advice Toyz. I was wondering how to adjust pivot. Only reason why I bought now 0500 and not 0200 which weere my candidate was because I heard mudd was discontinued, meaning I could get 0200 later.

Congrats on your new ZT... definitely keep the 0200 on your short list. I got an 0200 a few weeks ago, I'm very impressed by the design and build quality. It's like taking the most robust Kershaw model and giving it steroids.

I probably get it in June. I could get it earlier but I have to buy other things too, like new objective (55-200mm) for my Camera and I promised to buy from a fellow forumite modded (was it Bill Siegle modded) Scrapyard Knives Dumbster Mutt. I'll get those first before getting ZT 200.

Congrats, let us know how you like in a few months. I've been wanting to try a 301 for a while now, waiting for Kershaw Guy to get some more 301 blems.

Jamppa, in your honor for getting your first ZT, I have put away my edc of the past 5 months, and begun carrying my ZT0500!:D:thumbup::) It was time to change up anyway, and I love the ZT0500, so it was an easy thing to do.

As far as the pivot goes, I just use two small nails, that I flattened the tips on, and fit them in opposite holes, put the shank of a long screwdriver between them, and either tighten or untighten the pivot. I generally like my pivots tighter than most folks, but I still have no problems with opening it.

Hope you enjoy that ZT0500 MUDD, and use it to it's max, as it will holler for more!!:)

Thank you cutter17 and rest. I am going in 2 weeks with bunch of city folks in in day hike near by community trail path. In there is community hut with camp fire place. Since last time every one else came without any sharp but me, I had to make fire (I kinda suspected that and I had a puukko and USMC Ka-Bar with me. So I am designated bbq master, blade master and fire starter. :D Gotta love city folk in this town who don't know how to light the camp fire. ;)

That opportunity in two weeks is great test for my Becker BK-7 as chopper and batoning it as well to do some real test with Mudd! Expect some pictures during that 4 hour mini hike.

Congrats on the new knife. The 0500 is one of my favorites. I don't think you'll find much it can't handle. Mine has breezed through tasks that no folder should be asked to do.

Have fun on your "mini hike". I don't know if I'd be able to wait two weeks to go hiking, though. I start going crazy after a few days of not climbing or hiking or something outdoors.

Another MUDDY guy here as well :) I carry mine in a ZT sheath, and it's gone everywhere, including Honduras.

I currently own a 301 and a 0205, I EDC them frequently. Its hard to pick a favorite of the two, I like the 0205 blade shape and flipper action, the assisted opening of the 301 is incredible. The weight of the knives I actually enjoy, I like how it feels when I am using the knife. I really like the green G-10 handle and textured Ti of the 301. Both are easily on my favorites short list, along with the JYD series of knives and G-10 tyrade. If I was in a shtf situation I would certainly want both the 0205 and 301 with me.

There is a local store for outdoor/military goods where I am that always recommends the mudd whenever they get asked what knife should I get my friend/family member in the military. I've always heard good things.

Thanks again Mr Dobson and rest. I have hard time to wait but I have to push thru this week and I can relax bit. I need to go check soon how the trail path looks in terms of ice and snow at the moment. It will be also a excellent way also test my new objective for my Nikon D-60.

Waiting sucks ^^

Do the ZT Folders feel really heavy in the pocket? Is it worth the weight and bulk? I am really thinking hard about a ZT 200.
