I'd been checking the tracking info on my Junglas earlier today and knew it was set to show up today.

Slightly funny, guess it was around 12:30pm I thought "let me see if the mail has showed up with my Junglas." Opened the front door and WHAM! The Junglas barged right in(cause that's how the Junglas rolls), in its long USPS Priority Mail long box. Postal carrier had propped it up against the door, so it was a surprise.

Anyway, scooped the box right up and was seriously like a giddy little kid on Christmas morning. Ripped the box open and got the Junglas out.

The first time you unsheath the Junglas is truly a "holy sh%*!" moment.

First impressions. It's amazingly light for the size. It's extremely surprising how light it is in fact. For such a big honkin' knife you almost expect it to feel heavier in the hand. The balance is just perfect.

The grip angle is also perfect for this size knife. Can't say enough good about ergonomics of the micarta scales on this one. Beyond comfortable in the hand. The Junglas truly feels like an extension of your own arm.

Sharpness out of the box is very impressive. It will shave hair no problem.

Fit and finish are perfect. Sheath and molle back are also top notch.

Also kinda pleased because I got a relatively low serial number in my opinion. Number 0680. I know it doesn't matter. It's a personal thing. I like getting a lower number.

Hoping to put this beast to work tomorrow. I thought for a while I'd have no use for a Junglas and held off ordering one. But honestly in just merely handling it, I can think of half a dozen or more uses for this guy. Despite its size, this thing show the promise of being rather versatile.

If you're on the fence about getting a Junglas...don't be. Get it. You'll be happy you did.

YUp the Junglas feels the best in my hand than most any knife I've held

I was surprised by how much I liked the handles on mine. When you first look at pictures of it, it's all about that 10 inch blade. When it came in, I held it in my hand and the handles blew my mind. They are full, comfortable, and just beg for it to be used...

I am going backpacking in Kettle Moraine State Forest tomorrow in Southeast WI, and my Junglas and I should have some fun setting up camp, building a shelter, etc.

That Junglas appears to be an all around excellent field blade. If I could only take one bladed tool into the woods for survival, I think this one is as good as it gets.

I can definitely afford one, but I simply can't justify any more knives. Between my Busse FBMLE and Fiddleback Forge Terrasaur I think I have the bases covered.

But that Junglas looks terrific and it is everything a heavy duty survival / utility knife needs to be.

I need an excuse to get one......

komondor,
I just recevied my first ESEE knife this Monday from Howe's Knife Shop, & by coincidence, it just happened to be the Junglas. Per the other ESEE knife veterans on here, "my addiction is in full swing". Try & use what I have in the past, sometimes these work, sometimes they don't:
"You had just one more empty space in your knife cabinet you had to fill" . . .
"You can split the campfire kindling quicker with a bigger knife" . . .
"You got a "GREAT" price & just could not pass it up" . . .
"You can work a couple hours overtime to pay for it" . . .
Good Luck . . . :)

Sure is a pretty one =)

Since I'm ordering a Lite Machete for christmas for my sis next week.... ehhhh might as well save by combining shipping ;)

I can relate to that "holy crap" reaction when you first open a Junglas package. Great knife Bro !!

Thickness is 3/16 of an inch. Quite stout.

.1875 inches is pretty darn stout...

but you'd be surprised how many people whine for .25 or BIGGER. oiy!

junglas is definitely on my radar :)

Due to its awesome sharpness, my Junglas chops and hacks as well as any of my quarter inchers (Fiddleback Forge Bow Legged Chopper, Koster Monster Nessie, Bark River Golok, HI Jungle Knife)... and somehow manages to never to sustain edge damage. Coating damage on the spine, yes... edge damage, no.

Anyone have a comparison between a Becker 7, 9, and Junglas?

I hope the Junglas is more robust than the BK9. I broke the tip on mine (about the top 1"). Although I was doing things I probably shouldn't have been doing.

The Junglas is slightly thinner stock than the BK9, making it a better slicer, but it appears to have a more robust tip. Great design.

I have a BK7 in addition to the Junglas. The blade thickness is the same on both if that helps. Different grind though. Junglas is a drop point with saber grind. BK7 is a clip point with a flat grind if I'm not mistaken.

In terms of overall size though, the Junglas dwarfs the BK7.

I'll try to get a pic up this evening for comparison...don't have my camera available at the moment.

The BK7 is easily my favorite of the Becker line. The Junglas though is in a different class, it's really nice for such a large knife.
