Got My Mule (Photo Heavy)

Why was the Mule not intended as a cheap way for the average user to test knife steels?.
Thats the concept i got and if he paid for it then why would you complain if he chooses to break one up so others like me can learn from his testing.
If i get a hold of two next time at the going rate then im going to test one to failure too.

i'm not complaining. simply stating my opinion.

Could you elaborate?

stressing your blade laterally by striking it with a kukri while stabbed in a piece of wood can not be "normal" testing technique. actually most would classify it as abuse. to me it is a waste of a perfectly fine blade, at least imo.

your knife, do as you wish.

If I learned something from the "abuse," and I value that knowledge more than keeping the tool in its original form, it is not a waste. I don't make out my "tests" or reviews to be scientific at all. I do what I do for one reason above any other; I enjoy it. I like learning what different materials are capable of. Like I recently unearthed two blades I kept buried in dirt for a year. Not a practical "corrosion test" by any means, but it was still interesting to see the results for me.

Regardless, the blade can still be further tested without the last bit of tip.

As the saying goes its a good idea to learn from others mistakes.
In knife testing situations the reason i aplaude the testers is this reason.
Plus the fact the Mule is a blade given to customers cheap so they can test diffrent steels and i like that idea and its principles.

my busse and srapyards, i'd pry with all the confidense in the world (thus the big bucks spenditures!). my mule, well, i'll just cut stuff with it.

these nuts- if you really like to abuse your knives, check out the busse subforum.

ps- i like spyderco knives period. they cut great! they are my edc. however, what would whacking a mule with a bigger knife simulate? a knife fight?

vivi- good thing you got two! :D

the busse custom shop "battle mistress" in my sig line is tuff! i don't need to push it to the point of destuction to prove it! also it would be a waste of $800 (thats 400 british pounds) :D:eek::cool:
