This wouldn't be the first time someone's posted pics of Hoopster's sheaths but really, his work is excellent!

Everything I wanted for in a quality kydex sheath, well thought out, neat (works really nicely as a necker, less bulky and slim), very secure and set up for how I'd like to carry it, the rivet holes are perfectly set up for a mini tek lok in a variety of positions from horizontal to vertical carry.

I'm wrapped! Thank you Hoopster!

Not directly related - but how do you get on with those micarta scales? Seriously thinking about ordering some. Do they add much weight?

It doesn't really add that much weight but it does make the entire knife fatter at the handle.

Ergonomically don't underestimate ESEE's design behind these scales and their thickness, one thing I've noticed with the ESEE knives I own is that the design is very functional, and I appreciate the way these scales fill the hand in different grips, the rounding of the scales near the finger choil makes it comfortable to hook/rest your thumb or index finger (side grips) around it for added grip and comfort. If you don't mind the thickness of it I'd recommend it.

I put scales on my Izula and for me it completed the knife! I've never really been a big fan of skeletonized handles. Now I just need to get me one of Hoopster's sheaths and I'm set to go.

Got my scales yesterday. Will try them when I get tired of the para cord wrap. Off the knife they feel comfortable.

I have had my Izula for about 2 weeks now and I gotta say I like it a lot..have been EDC on my belt for most of the time. Just this week I started to carry on my neck and I'm surprised at how comfortable and concealed it is. Now I have to get me one of those Hoopster sheaths.

i recently bought some kydex and tried to combine an izula sheath from Martin (from Holland martinsheaths.blogspot.com) with the idea from CKC Knives (a bushcraft knife got from him, with an integrated firesteel in the sheath).
Here is the result (in the closup you can see i epoxied a little piece of thin kydex as a lock for the firesteel handle. The firesteel handle snaps into place and is more secure.
Now, all my favorite knives have firesteels attached!

Wyldey, i see you have the older Izula, still with the old logotype on it. (wich i like more btw..) I got mine this week, and they removed the logo (the new name "esee" is under the scales)

Nice job Hoopster...

Hey Bartch..That looks like an innovative design:thumbup:

Nice firesteel holder Bartch. Is the steel glued in or just cinched down in the kydex? I guess it would need a little redesign for neck carry but what a great idea for a piggy back or pocket sheath.

Thanks Hoopster,
yes, i used some epoxy in the kydex-firelsteel-handle. I haven't tried it yet, but it should be easy to use it as a necksheath. Why do you think it needs some modification? I "stole" the modell from Martin, a guy from Holland who makes beautifull sheaths, both leather and kydex. He uses this modell as a necknife sheath. Here you can see it.

Hoopster and Martin both make some sweet ass sheaths. I really like your firesteel idea. Very slick!

Those are some great looking sheaths Hoopster! I really like the firesteel in the tip of the Izula sheath, that's a new one.

I've seen Martin's kydex Izula neck sheath before, I like how minimal it is. I guess the reason I mentioned yours might need some tweeking for neck carry is because it didn't seem like you had two holes for the chain to be run through. On second thought the firesteel hole would probably work fine. I originally thought it might slide out but I guess with the other rivet hole and the tension of the firesteel it's not an issue.

The only other critique I would have is that with the two chain holes spaced so close together the sheath is more likely to turn and twist when wearing it. When the holes are spaced further apart it hangs with more stability. Minor issue but just though I'd mention it. Still love your idea.
