Yeah..good poin't..i think it would have more stability with the holes less close together..i didn't try to use it as a neck knife yet.
The firesteel is locked in place nice and firm, but maybe in time, it could wear out a bit..so, that's why i made this little lock mecanism.
Actually, i made a mistake while cutting out the firesteel-handle. As you can see, i've cut it with a little angle. But the angle is wrong. If i had use the opposite angle, there would be another safety-lock for the firesteel, if used as a neck-knife. (you can see it illustrated in my fantastic drawing here
(sorry, didn't had my Wacom at me to draw a decent picture)
Oh..and the firesteel is not really my own idea. I got the idea from CKC Knives. He modified his Hiker as a bushknife, with integrated firesteel. There is a video of it here
