and the knife is great! I love the weight, the lock and it's lines, but...The clip has got to go! It seems like it rides almost an inch out of my pocket. Does anyone make a low ride clip for this knife? If I can't do something about how it carries I may end up trading it away and getting the Mini Manix. It maybe a bit heavier but from the looks of things it will carry lower in the pocket.

I'm pretty sure STR makes a very nice low ride clip for it. If anybody can do it, he can. His reputation is excellent here and at other forums. Joe

Yeah... I would contact STR through his forum here on BF.

I'm not sure that the mini-Manix will ride much lower. I have both and IIRC, the Manix might be slightly lower, but not much. I think that STR is your best bet.

I'd hate to see you trade away the Para, I carry mine 3X more than the mini-Manix, but you'll have plenty of takers if you decide to trade. Heck, I might even be willing to trade my mini for another Para.

Weird that you should say that... I loved my PM too, but the clip was a disaster... the edges were almost as sharp as the blade!

I ended up filing them smooth but it kinda ruined the look... my wife carries the knife now.

My Chinook II on the other hand, has a Benchmade style clip - perfect!

Yea, my clip was sharp too..also didn't help that it stuck an inch above my pocket. GREAT for drawing, not good for laws

I ordered a para from new graham knives a while back and absolutely hated the clip. I sent it to STR for one of his low rider clips and also to change the position (I prefer a tip up carry) and he did a great job. Very strong clip, rides really low and secure in the pocket and he was a real gentleman to do business with. I recommend him 100%. Just my two cents.:)

Thanks for the input. I contacted and STR, and will eventually send the Paramilitary off to have his low rider clip installed. I really like this knife, so parting with it isn't an option, the low rider clip will make a great knife even better. I still will get the Mini Manix...just got to have one....lol.

Thanks
Dave

While we're on the subject of Para clips. How high does it actually ride? I'm really considering getting a Paramilitary in the near future, but the clip concerns me just a bit.

I don't care who knows I'm carrying a knife, I do so legally so if it scares people, it's their problem. I honestly hate low riding clips (SOG clips are the worst in my opinion), but the Para looks like it rides so high it may not be secure.

Has anyone had problems with pocket retention with the Paramilitary? I'm considering a new knife to replace my beloved Benchmade 710 because the 710's blade is just a little bit too long (I've EDC'd it for almost two years and have worked around the extra half inch of blade, but I'd really like something smaller). The blade length on the Para looks just about perfect and I don't want to be worried about losing a nice knife because of a poorly designed clip but I don't want to go so far as to have a clip that hides it in the pocket.

I've got a Para and I think it rides higher than most -- as does the military. However, It's really not bad though. The knife's light weight makes carrying it very comfortable. As far as retention, the knife is very secure in the pocket

I edc my para and yes it does ride a bit high, but its not uncomfortable. Also the clip is very strong and has no problem with pocket retention. I have never had it even slip out at all.

I mostly use my Para in the woods, so I prefer the high ride clip for easy access.

To match the blade, I put a brushed, satin finish on the clip which also eliminated the sharp edges. Now the knife is perfect. :D

I too agree, so: I have since, filled up the screw holes. TIP UP FOREVER!

I don't like sharp edges, either. I've seen the backs of blades or thumbstuds especially that are left much too rough. But I don't file them. Instead, I buff them with a ceramic rod. It leaves them looking exactly the way they had been, but removes the "edginess".

The Para and Millie do not ride much higher in carry than the Endura 4, here take a look.
