Got my NMFBM LE, but what happened to my Tiger Hide?

I got my NMFBM LE in the mail the other day, and while it's an incredible chopper I was really disappointed in the handle, which looks more like green linen than Tiger Hide. Did the Busse folks slip up or are there some really bad batches of Tiger Hide out there? :(

Please let me know if anyone else out there got a NMFBM LE that looks like this, so far all the pics I've seen posted have handles that look like regular Tiger Hide. Here are pics of my FBM LE with normal Tiger Hide on top of my NMFBM LE to show the difference, the light patches on the handles are where the water started to dry before I snapped the pics.

You're not the only one...I was less than impressed by the hide on my NMFBMLE too. That being said, it's still an awesome knife and there will always be variations in patterned micartas.

could be somebody screwed up, now you got a nmfbm le one off with linen?

There seems to be quite a bit a variation; Jaxx put up a pic of his six, and ther were all different.

IIRC, it's LINEN, not CANVAS. Hence the tighter pattern.

I will say the tigerhide on my SJTACLE is the nicest of all.

I've seen some pretty wide variations posted.

the #13 has more of the orange and the other is more green.

Think it has to do with hand shaping and depending on just how many layers are removed in the sanding determines the color that is most visible???

Dennis, I believe they are linen too.

Matches the original cult:)

so personally I am happy

Yeah, the tiger hide is linen micarta. It said so on the Busse home page. :p

There seems to be a lot of variation, particularly with the hand-shaped handles. Probably something to do with how many layers are ground off, like Knife hunter said.

Thats pretty much what my LE looks like. I dont mind it at all. My CG is Black&black and tan and to be perfect honest it doesnt float my boat as much as I thought it would. BUt hey NO REGRETS!!!!

All of the tiger hide on my LE's are different, the nmfbm most of all. Seems more of a green 'base' then the tan/orange 'base' of the others. I personally love it.

Ohhhhh mannnnnn .... Look like a really bad batch .... for $800+ I would expect perfection.... EEEEEEEEEEEEEEKkKK~!!!!! That is pretty darn fugly...

I always thought the Tiger Hide was canvas.

There's a lot of variety in the Tigerhide based on what layer ends up on top.

My LE is the same way, it really does not look like tigerhide. Its pretty much the same as a green linen I have seen.
