I've got several friends that have bought or build FAL/L1A1 and they swear by them. Rhodesian fella had plenty of experience with them and G3's and given the choice would take the FAL over the G3 any day (HATED the G3)['course my MA instructor loves the G3 {blonds/bruenetts/redheads}]. New weaver rail upper covers for the FAL/L1A1 allow any sort of sight use and give great rigidity and return to zero. While not a sniper rifle, the FALs are great battle rifles capable of reaching out with a "enough" bullet. I went with a semiauto M21 set up instead (completeing my U.S. 20th century MilSurp collection), but am tempted to FAL just to fit in
