Got my camo para in yesterday! sweet. I had not had a spyderco that I regarded higher quality than my benchmades until this one. this thing is sweet. the compression lock is TIGHT! two thumbs up.

LOL, yeah, probly cant have the para....
though I might have a native kicking around......
Seriosly though, I'll try to get some pics up.

Spyderco seems to avoid a lot of gimmicks and bring you straight to the business. Many of their designs seem and feel like there is something "left out." Take your Native for example... I can't think of a more simple knife. Sure it is nowhere near as fancy as any single Benchmade Blue Class knife, but it IS equal, and less expensive than any USA BM... especially any with S30V. The Native, to me is where the "Golden" Spydies begin. You mention the Paramilitary here, and I agree 100%. IMO there just is not any Benchmade which can compare with the Millie or ParaM... There MAY be a little more polish...maybe nice appointments, but as far as the tolerances & materials of a well made knife go, they just can't be beat.

I NEVER thought I'd be a "Spydie Guy" but now it is no contest. I still dig BM, and still check out their new items from time to time, but rarely buy one. The last knife I bought before my Para was a BM 527 Presidio Mini Ultra... nice knife, dig the axis... still have it, but I certainly feel nekkid without my Delica 4!

archieblue, Agreed on all your points. Spyderco stays at the top for me! :)

yeah, the spydercos are simple in their form and function, which is why they are so good. I gotta admit as much as I like my osborne 940 for edc. I dont trust the axis lock nearly as much as a stout lock back or liner lock. they have those two teenie omega springs that operate the lock, and no dout it makes for a wonderful pocket knife, but I could easily imagine one failing if it got packed with sand or mud or even just fatigue. (I'm still a BM fan though)

My Para is my favorite Spyderco. And I have 12 Spydies. Simple design and an awesome FFG Full Flat Grind blade. D2 or S30V either way a great knife.

the first part is exactly how i feel, and i've been wondering about the delica4.

anybody have a problem with the tips snapping on the para's or any other ffg blade, the tips seem super thin.obviosly dont pry anything.

I don't advise prying with any knife. If it was designed to be used as such, that's another story. That's where you'd need to buy a $4 mini prybar, carry that on you and save your $100+ knife for cutting purposes only. That is unless you want to use a cutting tool to pry. Not me though, I don't like to pour my hard earned cash down the drain.
It would be wise to use a little extra care at the tip of a Millie or Para. My CPM D2 Millie is missing a piece of the tip, from the previous owner. It's only about 1/16 of an inch. Doesn't bother me, just makes it easier to use, but not as a prybar.:)
