Just got my new pheer327 2x72 belt grinder! It is AMAZING! Highly recommended.
After grinding some I have concluded a few thoughts on the grinder. 1-the belt tracks excellently, and is super smooth
2-very quiet and runs with very very little vibration
3-versatile for sure;I can have the flat platen on, then to a contact wheel, or a small wheel(when I finally have the stuff to make those arms). I can use belts that are nearly 82" long and it runs just as good as a 72" belt.( I realize that most of this can be done on other grinders, but the attachments cost nearly as much, if not more than the entire pheer)
4-powerful; I only have a 1hp Baldor and I would never bog it down under heavier than normal use, and if you are willing to put a couple more dollars into it you could get a 2+Hp if you wanted
5-Price: what I paid might not be what you would pay, but no matter what... it was half if not 1/3 of the price of a well known grinder at single speed, and has proven to be well worth the money so far.
6-heavy duty, the frame isn't solid steel, which just seems impractical for a hobbyist/part time knife maker. But by no means is the frame weak or flimsy or fragile.the tubes are fairly thick, and is extremely sturdy and well built.
The only cons to show are that the platen plate that the wheels are connected to seems to get in the way a little, and the tooling arm Doesn't always get completely tightened consistantly.
I will try to post pics, but that hasn't been working when I try so I guess I'll try and figure that out.
Thanks for taking the time to look at this, and if you are looking into getting a grinder... or another grinder, than I would definetely check out some of his grinders
