Here are some pictures. I bought two 710's in 154CM and one in D2. What a NICE knife for $102! This is my first Axis Lock knife. I took pictures aside my BM 913D2 and my ZT 0302 as well. Enjoy . . .

The 710 is one of the classics. Aesthetically appealing, opens like butter, and cuts like . . . well . . . a knife.

I agree that the 710 is a great knife (I usually carry one when not at work) and deem the design to be simply great.

But, why 3?

I wanted to carry the D2 because it is current production and I plan to stash the two 154CM's since they are discontinued.

Just because I could I guess :)

79 bucks? Holy crap now that's a bargain!! Please tell me where did you get it for that money!!!

Impact Guns had them on closeout a few weeks ago but I think they may be gone. You could look though. They still have the mini-Stryker on closeout but they want $88 for those knives. I was shocked when I saw the large 913 for $79.99 and I bought it within minutes in case they sold out before the next day.

VERY nice little collection you got going there reeek! You might want to look at a couple more of those ZT's, namely the ZT0200 and ZT0500. Great start, and great pics!!

I have two more 0300's and a 0200 already :)

My collection is near 50 now ;)

Can you post a review? Likes? Dislikes? Which steel is better? I hear the D2 version of this knife is hard as hell to sharpen. How's it feel in the hand? Too big or small? I played with a Kulgera today, it seemed really small to me.

If anyone else has a link to a good review of this knife, I'd be interested in it.

Um, did anyone else notice that all three boxes say D2 on them?? What's up with that. Did you think you were getting all D2 Versions or did you know in advance that two would be 154CM?

Knifeworks got a shipment of 154cm version by mistake. They said Benchmade made an error and packaged them wrong.

Nice collection bro. And from a good store too.

For the price its a lot of knife.

Nothing wrong with having extras, you can turn em into cash on the Exchange here any time you want.

I love the 710, 707 and 705 series, but had to unload mine. Strange that the boxes for the 154CM would say D2.

I've had two 154CM 707's, one D2 707, one ATS34 705, one 154CM 710 and one D2 710.

As mongomondo stated, there was a mistake at Benchmade. And as I understand it, the 154CM blades are discontinued. That's why I bought two of those. Even if they aren't I'm still a hoard :D

Anyway, Roger at Knifeworks had both for the same price I wanted to make sure I had some 154CM 710's before they're gone.

Even though I just got them and haven't done any tough cutting I can give you my initial impressions on their build quality and appearance, etc.

I opened all three knives up and laid them out. Actually these pictures I posted were real time from my desk at work because I had them shipped to my office.

Initial impression:

They all came very sharp and not overly toothy for being the factory edge

The D2 blade, when held at an angle to allow the light to enhance the blade, appears to be a little less smooth as if the machining process is more difficult with the D2 than the 154CM. The 154CM blades seem ever so slightly more refined in their finish.

The 154CM blades were a tad sharper than the D2 as shown by push cutting paper. It could be that their edge is just smoother and not as toothy as the D2. They just seem to have a slight sharpness advantage.

The two 154CM knives have perfectly centered blades

The D2 knife is slightly off center but not enough for me to mess with it.

I'm not sure if this has to do with the person who assembled them or if they were assembled with more care when they were built or if the D2 blade is not perfectly straight. Regardless, it's minor and the the D2 knife will be the one I carry and abuse first anyway.

The two 154CM knives seem smoother to deploy while the blade play was still non existent. The D2 blade took slightly more effort to flip fully open with my thumb. I tweaked the pivot screw on the D2 knife a little back and forth but could not quite mimic the smoothness of the 154CM knives. Understand this difference is slight but there. I tend to wonder if this is because of the friction coefficient is different between 154CM and D2 or perhaps the D2 is microscopically not as smoothly finished at the pivot point. Just grasping at straws here.

The fit and finish for all three knives is perfect except for the slightly off center blade on the D2 knife when closed.

I stropped all three knives to fine finish their blades and as expected, the 154CM knives came out noticably sharper acting than the D2 in the same amount of stropping time.

All in all I think I prefer the 154CM knives but because the D2 knives are current production I'm going to carry that one first.

Here is a picture of the off center blade. I got a bit too close and it is a tad blurry but you can get the gist of how much it is off. Not bad. Ast I said, the 154CM knives are flawless in everyway.
