Hello all,

I'm just wondering if this is normal Sypydero practice. I ordered a knife that was supposedly in in stock and then was told today that it was no longer in stock, which is fine. But my problem starts when they already took money out of my account on Saturday , even though they said my account wouldn't be charged until it shipped. They couldn't ship the knife because it was no longer in stock. My question is, is how can they charge me for a knife that never intended to ship. I've called them numerous times and can never give a straight answer.

I would think on the weekends, the order process is automated. Therefore, it was showing in stock and the process was completed, including charging your account. When the order was looked at by an employee, there were none in stock and you received a follow up email. Trust me, this isn't the first time something like this has happened, I've experienced it from another dealer. I try to order during the week if it's direct from the company, but sometimes it doesn't work out.

It's still pending...give it a day or two.

Also, the crap they put in Papa John's will kill a person.

Also, also, you'd be surprised what people with the desire can do with personal info. Might want to edit those if you still want them up here.

Thats probably a preauthorization and your bank has deducted from your balance so you don't overdraft even though it technically hasn't become a charge. Just call your bank, explain what happened and they should be able to take it off for you.

Btw, sweet price.

I think you are making a big deal out of nothing. They probably were not at work when you ordered it.
Why in the world are you taking pictures of all of that stuff, and posting it on the internet? To gain what, exactly, spam mails, uninvited guests to your home?

So your statement says pending withdrawals, with most likely means your card was authorized, but not charged. If it was a debit card the auth could go against your balance. The card should be charged when the item ships.

Ever gone out to eat, order something, and your server comes back and tells you that the kitchen is out of it?

100% agree. It's not like they took his money and refused to give it back. No one got screwed here.

I think you're being a unfair by posting this before they have a chance to correct it. If this was 2 weeks with no refund I could see you posting. Unless they have refused to help via email or phone, you need to give them a few days. It's not like Spyderco doesn't have a good reputation for taking care of customers.

My much larger concern is that the Spydie Chef is out of stock. Both it and the Slyze Bowie are on my wish list, and I waited too long and missed the Slysz. I'm hoping this is really just an inventory issue or maybe a transition to a new one. If I miss this one also I'm going to be having an unpleasant conversation with myself.

Exactly. If the email from Spyderco had said "knife is out of stock and we are keeping your cash" this would have been called for. That is not what happened.
It's the victim mentality of a lot of these young people today. They want what they want, they want it now. If something is not perfect for them they jump on social media
moaning about how they "got screwed" by somebody.

Then he calls "numerous times" wanting a "straight answer". I'm going to assume the Spyderco staff apologized and told him what happened, that is what is in the email
he posted, but the actual answer wasn't enough. He couldn't be satisfied with the answer. He probably expected Gail to run down to the factory and pop him out a special spydiechef before
he makes more online accusations or angry phone demands.

RayMill RayMill I don't know what branch you claim to be in but you should request some training on this important thing called OPSEC. We got training on it regularly
when I was in and I imagine they have someone who works around you trained to explain it to you. After that, lets talk about having reasonable expectations of people, as a consumer.

Hi RayMill,

Your order has been cancelled. No funds were taken from your account. The piece you want is not in stock. The receptionist that you chewed our really had nothing to do with your order. Cussing as her and hanging up on her was rude. Your attitude sucks. I don't think that we screw our customers as your post suggests. The Op-focus program is a favor that we do for our courteous Military, etc. personnel. You have caused us more trouble than the order is worth. There are already 6 people involved in your on-line order which the computer listed no stock so it wasn't shipped.
