Got some money to spend....

Thanks to the tax return thread I've realized that I'm about to come into a fairly large amount of money. Not only will I bet getting $330 back from Uncle Sam, but I have Graduation coming up, and I'll porbaly get about $400 or more from that. So naturally, it's time for a new knife. I want to get something nice. But I wanna keep it under $200 (hopefully). What I'd really like is a custom folder, but that's probaly not gonna happen. But I'll ask anyways :D. Does anyone know a maker who can build a folder for around $200 with these specs:

from 6 1/2" to 8" long
D2 or similar blade
G-10 or aluminum handles
framelock, linerlock, lockback, ect. I don't care. As long as it can be built for a lefty.

Umm that's about it, I really want something simple which would helpfully keep the price down.

If there are no makers out there crazy enough to build a folder that cheap, how about some high-end or semi-production knives? William Henry? Alan E. (sorry, can't spell the last name)? Darrel Ralph? Any suggestions are appreciated. Am I dreamin'?

Fixed? Folder? Auto? What type? Seeing you said about 8", you're probably talking about a fixed, in that case I probably would get a Ka-bar or a similar knife with D2 (I believe MOD has one)

Heh glad I inspired someone to spend some cash

Dylan, the answer is obvious if you are going to have that much money. Get a Sebenza. Now hear me out before you start thinking "I can't afford that" or "didn't this guy read my specs?" . Yes a Sebbie (plain, either small or large) will cost about $100.00 more than you want to pay. However, if you get a Sebbie you will have a knife that will last a lifetime. These knives are handmade for all intents and purposes, which is something that you wanted. CRK's are made from excellent materials such a titanium for the handles and either BG-42 or, more recently, S30V for the blades. The craftsmanship with which they are made is admirable and CRK stands by it's product like few companies do. Another strong point is the ease with which you can care for a Sebbie. Sebbies are made to be taken apart so that the owner can maintain them properly, even comes with an Allen wrench. This in no way voids the warranty and is in fact encouraged by CRK. I used to say that I would never buy a knife that was worth over $150.00 but here I am getting funds together to purchase a second Sebbie. Listen to everyone's opinions and then decide for yourself. But I can speak from experience that you won't be sorry if you get the Sebbie. Take care and congrats on your graduation.

Hehe, I was waiting for that. A Sebbie is definitely an option. I'd just like to handle one first, don't know how that's gonna happen, though.

Thank you ;)

I'm gonna have to agree with the Sebenza. nuff said. for a little less (<$200), however, you could get a buck/mayo, which is not too shabby either.

Congrats on your graduation

How about that Cuda DRD Aftermath? I thought I saw it pretty cheap somewhere at about $287. I know, it's over your budget, but it looks so damn sweet!!

Edited to add: I believe it's at discount knives for that price
