Got some motivation for school

Think about this... If you get the Buy priviledge for D's... What will mom allow if you come home with C's and above? She might even kick in a few $$'s.

My 14 daughter want's a phone put in her room. I told her all A's and B's and she could have it. She's improved (no F's this year! ), but she's only up to C's and D's. Thought she could get the phone just for the improvement, not actually getting the grades. Hell, if she came home with all A's (maybe one B), I'd probably sping for a cell phone for her.

(and she gets to keep it on the condition that the the grades stay up.)

Ain't I a bastard?

I usually get decent grades and do well on tests. Last year I almost made honor role; not that big of a deal though. Last quarter I got all B's except for one C in math (I think) and an F in English.

This quarter I slipped up and either forgot or could not do homework assignments. Thus the failing of at least 2 classes right now, around 44 percent in math, I don't know how ****** I'm doing in English. I'm in a pretty big hole. On a lighter note, I am getting a B in Biology (much more interesting).

My mother encourages good grades, but right now she just wants me to improve my grades to a passing ones. She also will not pay for grades. Last year I came home with a couple of A's and I asked if I could get something for working so hard, her reply, "I'll make you dinner, how about that?" What a great mother...

...You call a "high D" a PASSING grade? I don't think of anything below a "C" as a PASSING grade. You need to set your goals higher than you have been, and then work your ass off to get there. (Hell, even I graduated from college with a 3.85 GPA...).

If MY kids would have been satisfied with a "high D", I'd have kicked their asses into gear, and rather than buying you a gift to reach that low-grade, your mom should get you some tutoring help.

Sorry for being so harsh, but someone has to point out the fact that you CAN (and should) expect better from yourself than a "high D" grade.

There's no excuse for forgetting assignments. If you can't do an assigment, ask for help, That's why the teachers are there. If you're doing well in bio because you find it more interesting, then find a way to make your other subjects interesting as well.

Your mon's got a good attitude here. You, on the other hand...

OK im in highschool my self and I admit my grades arent perfect but I can keep them above a D (usualy B and a C in history). My mother wont let me get my licence till ive got all my grades up it to least Bs so tell me why you get a reward for Ds. Most of my knife addiction is fed by my own money and hard work outside of school.

The mention of getting a Dodo caught my eye, they are kinda hard to find now that they have been discontinued.

Work hard man. I am a junior at the University of Georgia. Trust me, it doesnt get any easier down the road so you need to learn how to work hard now. Knives are a good interest to have but you should focus on school. D's are not the type of grades to be aspiring towards.

Last I heard, his mom bought him an Escalade for graduating with a 1.8 GPA.

LMAO that kid probably graduated high school by now and we're still wondering about grades from like his sophomore year.

Gotta go and call Mom up. Just now realized my parents owe me a whole bunch of good knives. I don't know how I didn't realize at the time I wasn't getting rewarded properly.

Dangitt....well I wonder how that kid turned out.

I'm fine. I'm a senior this year and will be graduating on time. The original post was made in my sophomore year and things are much different now, enjoying school much more now and am doing pretty well for myself. Getting ready for graduation is a big thought for me but I know what I'm going to be doing after high school so all is well.

I was serious about the Mnandi.

P.S. I sent you a PM on the TS forums, you never replied. Just wondered if you ever saw it.
