Got some questions regarding Striders

Dang SO that orange SnG is amazing! I bet it looks even better in person.

So I think the PT is pretty much totally out of the picture. It'll be harder to get. From what people are saying, it's extremely small, and the SnG comes in a bunch more options as far as steel, handles and grinds go. Now I just got to narrow it down to one.
I heard somewhere (maybe EDCF?) that a new PT is gonna be released April-ish. Might give you some more blade/handle style options.

:EDIT: There's a Z-Wear SNG over in the exchange (not mine, obviously). I have no experience with Z-Wear, but it sounds really cool :D

Well for starters I def agree with the masses, get a SnG over a PT.

I own a SnG DGG and a Tarani 889 which is the same size and I love em.

They are two of my most EDC'ed knives.

As for blade steel, s30v and 154CM aren't too far off.

Both are good steels and will hold a good edge with good corrosion resistance as well.

New Sebenzas come with s35vn, which is slightly better than s30v.

I own a small Sebenza in s35vn as well and it holds an edge really well and it's def a knife to consider.

I just got my first Strider a couple of days ago. Its an SnG CC with brown G10, flamed Ti, and the Z-Wear blade. Its the perfect size for me and I like smaller knives too. I think an SnG is the perfect choice OP

That would be cool if they did. Maybe a 3/4 hollow ground DLC coated CPM-154 blade. Green g10 front scale with flamed Ti. CC of course;) I heard that Z-wear is like a beefed up version of 3V or something like that. Purty cool!

Strider uses CPM-154 not 154cm (There's a big difference between the two) I personally like CPM-154 over S30v. S30v loses it's extremely sharp edge fairly quick and goes to a "utility" edge that lasts for a VERY long time. I'm very obsessed with my edges being as sharp as I can get them and when they start to dull, I have to sharpen them again or I'll go crazy. CPM-154 holds an extremely sharp edge for a very very long time in my experience which is why I like it more.

That's just my two pennies on those steels. I prefer M390 over both of those though;)

That's one of the SnGs I was looking at. I like the DGG but it seems kind of uncomfortable and the Legos are nice but a little blocky. I fell in love with the CC flamed Ti with a green g10 scale the moment I laid eyes on it. I'd like that combo with a SW CPM-154 blade. Mmmm.

Congratz on your new blade BTW:thumbup:

I just got an SnG in z wear with black oxide coating. It's amazing.

What's the black oxide like? Is it anything like DLC? I've got a DpX HEST 2.0 and the coating on it is just terrible. I think they call it mil spec phosphate or something like that. DLC is pretty much the only coating I like in folders nowadays.

What color handle did you get? pics perhaps?

I was kinda iffy on the SJ75 too. Eventially I bit the bullet and bought one. I've come to absolutly love the looks of it now. It has the nicest G10 I've ever seen. Now it's my new grail knife. It's in the top 3 along side my m390 PM2 and my small Sebenza.

Anyone got some more pics of their Striders? Knife porn is never a bad thing.

Sure

Ranger green. The black oxide is extremely durable. I wouldn't buy second hand. True North Knives has z wear in stock and monkey edge has cpm 154. I would check tnk to see if they have any cpm 154 in stock as Neil is amazing to work with.

Cool. I like the ranger green the most personally. I was looking at buying a used one but I really want a new one so every wear mark that it gets is from me. I'll have look into TNK. I've looked at their Striders before but not recently.

Here's my PT ripping out carpet.

Nice! It bet it needed some quality time with the stones after that huh? Is that black oxide? It looks coated to me but it might just be the angle of the pic.

RobCamlin- Your pics aren't working. Would you mind posting them again? I need more Strider porn in my life.

Holy hell Rob. You got some crazy Striders! I love that CC arctic grey one with the crazy looking grind. How long have you been into Striders?

I love Striders and have for a while now. That arctic grey one with the Nightmare grind was my only Mick Strider custom, one of my favorites and one of my rarest with VimCru20 steel. It's a shame that so many people hate on them, they really are such great knives. I think I've had only two production Striders, after which I set out to collect as many customs as I can find haha. I've had as many as nine Duane Dwyer custom SnGs at one point.

I think the CPM154 is a good choice, I've been impressed with mine. I have a Z wear on the way to try it out.

Those are some nice customs Rob. I've handled a couple of the Dwyer customs and they were nice. I think one was Rex121 and the other was Vimcru20? The only problem was one would stain/rust very easily. I can't remember which..

I have to have at least one Strider in my rotation - the times I didn't have one I missed them quite a bit. I'm an SMF guy but a good Strider SNG or SMF is a really good knife to carry and use.

Everyone should have an SnG, it's like a ground wire.;)
It helped me decide that the SJ-75 was a better knife for me. Yes it's ugggly, but not for long.

but get the SnG first.
