"Arbuthnot..." was the setting for the beginning and the end of The Hotel New Hampshire, which was the first Irving novel I ever read (back in '88). Don't bother renting the movie. The World According to Garp is the only one of his stories that has been effectively translated to the big screen and even it loses a lot in the translation.

Funny thing is Carla doesn't even care about swords, knives, etc but, she's pretty much put her foot down on my book buying...LOL My shelves are literally overflowing and I don't have space for another book shelf. Book buying I guess is my biggest addiction. I do read A LOT but, I buy on average 2 to 3 books a week. Lately though only been getting time to read like 1 book every 2 weeks or so
