Hi all!:)I've been lurking around here for some time and feel real fortunate to have caught the release of the new Mule.I put my order in this morning and got a shipping notice just a few minutes ago.:thumbup:Man,that's some great service.:thumbup:I cant wait to get the knife and put some great handles and filework on it.I'm mainly into the all stainless folder models like the Police,Delica, and Endura.I've always been a fan of the big 5" USA lockbacks and i guess thats why i like the extra heft of the stainless models. I've sure learned a lot just reading the posts here and cruising the store.Spyderco seems to really have it together and i sure wish them the best through these difficult times we seem to be falling into quickly.

I ordered one as well and got the shipment notice, can't wait.

I have never done handles before, so maybe some members can link some of their work or steer me in the right direction towards buying some, thx. :)

Im sure ive seen some tutorials here on the Forum someplace.I remember a real interesting thread on how to do fancy cord wraps too.You might be wise to practice on a cheap blank off ebay before tackling your Mule.:D

Cant wait to add scales.
Micarta this time around.......:)
Sorry for the poor photo skillz

Look at the Mule Handle thread. I got a beautiful set form potterma.

Ordering mine later this week. I can't wait!

This will also be my first Mule. I have some leftover micarta and pins from another knife I built... can't wait!

I got an M4 and an S90V mule, and I am getting ready to start on these projects... just wondering - what are the hole sizes in the Mule, so that I could purchase the rod and tube stock for the project...

Thanks.

Smallest holes are 3/16" or .187, Lanyard hole is 1/4" and Largest holes are 3/8" or .375.

Hired Gun.

Curious where you got the sheath for your Mule in the picture above?

Thanks,

Joshua

Joshua,

I found a local (Seattle) leather sheathmaker and worked out a concept of what I wanted over coffee. The sheath is what he created for me. Cost was $45.00. His name is Michael Hornung at http://mikeymotoleather.com/

Thanks for the info. Do you have a picture of the back side? where do you usually carry the knife on your body? I usually carry folders and want to start carrying my M4 Mule but don't have a sheath yet.

I have the sheath on my right hip when I carry it. It rides a little high so it can be a little more out of sight. Here's the back side of the sheath...

photojunkie,

Thanks. The scales are Stabilized Box Elder Burl. I got them from www.staburl.com. He has different colors. I have a blue set I'm going to work on some day when the "honey do" list gets whittled down.

CPM-S90V Mule. Some lines at the tip. No biggie, I'll know which one's mine.

Add some bicycle inner tube for a better grip while you consider handle options. Instant letter opener.

Is it just me, or did they change the finish on the blade? My M4 mule came with a satin-ish finish on the blade, but my S90V one looks more like the one above, almost like a stonewash finish.

It's a strange looking finish. I actually ran this one through my case tumbler for about an hour and it cleaned up some splotchy stuff on the handle. Are the folders made with S90V like this or are they polished up nice ?
