Really like the look of the Orange G10 but after using some today noticed it is hard to get a good finish on it. Seems to pickup dirt (IE my dirty shop paws) and turn dark when using the darker fine belts.

How should it be finished to prevent this?
Hate the thought of turning out a nice blade then having the handle look like crap after everyday handling.:thumbdn:

I have found that it cleans up nicely with WD-40 and a soft toothbrush. If you buff it with a CLEAN buff and white compound, you can sort of fill the pores with wax which will help, too.

Hot soapy water and a stiff old toothbrush work wonders for cleaning G-10.

The orange variety does show dirt and grime more then say black, but I think the trade off is worth it. :)

The higher grit you finish it to, the less dirt it will trap. I've also found that hand sanding with clean paper does a lot to prevent dark spots, etc.

Is there a way to seal it after sanding?
Maybe just the clean buff would work

I received an Orange G10 Millie about four weeks ago, was filthy after fishing trip, camp & kitchen chores, marsh mellow sticks, etc.

I worked it for about a minute with windex & a tooth brush, got it clean & put a light spray of silicone spray on it & it looks new.

It's well worth it to have a knife you can find if you put it down or stick it in a stump. Ruff Cobb

Maybe a light brush on coat of CA or clear Gorilla Glue?

I'd like to see that compared to a brand NIB Orange Millie. I found that there was still a noticeable difference between one that had been used (and thoroughly cleaned) and one that hadn't even been taken out of the box.
