Got three Schrades last night at Wally World

I got a stag handled Uncle Henry stockman, an X Timer two blade knife, the box said it was a stockman. I also got an Old Timer 30T :D . I don't have the boxes with me, I don't even have the knives with me, they don't look like they could hold up to a lot of abuse, but the Uncle Henry and the Old Timer sure are pretty. This was a Wally World I had searched for Schrades last month, but to no avail. They had multiples, if anyone in MD is looking, I got them at the Wally World in Hunt Valley MD, on Shawan Rd, next to the new shopping center. They're in the clearance section, to the right of the knife display (I took another look at those Bucks and Kershaws from China, eeech). Good luck. BTW, they are extremely cheap, I think I paid 4 bucks for the X Timer, and 7 each for the 30T and the Uncle Henry  .

Congratulations on a great find!
I have been looking for a little X-Timer, but so far all I have seen were well over what I would be willing to pay for one. Walmarts within a few hundred miles of me have been sold out of Schrades for a while now, and none were ever discounted. If you would be willing to help a Schradophile get one, send me an e-mail!

Our local walmarts have been out for a while. The old timer and uncle henry slipjoints were gone by Christmas. I don't think they discounted any of them except for the IHEA 5UH that I found at one. Actually I have seen Schrades vise grip tool packaged with a cliphanger but they still want $18 for it and I really could care less about the cliphanger.
I noticed a Kmart that had a couple of 34 ot's still in stock for 19.99. We do have a local store that has a bunch of Sharpfingers left. They are asking $24.99 for them and I have been waiting to see if they reduce the price any.

I have been bidding on a couple of Schrade Old Timer stockmans, with the same type of handle as the Cave Bear I own (any idea what that material is called?), and some of the ones I have been bidding on have crested over the 30 dollar mark already! People must be getting the "have to have it nows" pretty badly.

(any idea what that material is called?),
Most Old Timers have handles of "brown sawcut Delrin", a.k.a. "plastic", like this one:

Thanks Don Luis, Derlin is indeed the "good" plastic. Besides, if you like OT's and UH's, you got to have a soft spot for it. You also have to admit, as a scale material, it earns its keep.

What a great product Delrin was found to be when it came out. Gone were the days when one would drop a bone handled knife and cause a crack or break. Gone were the days when celluloid would unhappily deteriorate or burst into flames if it got too close to a fire. Schrade made excellent use of the product, as I think Camillus did (the nice 'yello-jackets' and 'rimfire classics' are my favorites. And, of course, the material was found good enough for the reintroduction of the Remington Bullets.

Ebay sellers frequently mistakenly call the Delrin handles 'micarta'. An insult to both materials, I think.

$25 ain't bad. I'd go ahead and take four at that price. This seems to be what Camillus is asking for the 'Grand dad' version of this great blade. Larry did a review of them for us. Those by Camillus won't get any cheaper, and the Schrades have a certain cache' that will last a long, long time. I wonder where the Sharpfinger stood as far as sales? Second only to the 34OT?

Maybe UHFan has those production figures, but judging from the longevity of the 152, and all the variations produced, I would say it had to be one of their top selling fixed blades right up to the end. Introduced in 1974, they were produced for thirty years and gave rise to two offspring, the droppoint 154 of '76-'98 and the guthook skinner 158 produced '88-'04. A lot of other manufacturers and custom makers copied the upswept blade shape as well over the years. I am glad to see Camillus pick it up and run with it now, though I have to wonder if changing the choil will make it harder to use. Sure did provide a nice finger rest on the original 152.

Well, the stockmens I've been bidding on have crested over the 50 buck mark, I've convinced myself I won't bid more than 15 on one.

Got another great deal on a small Old Timer, it was at the same Walmart I had gotten the three in this forum, and it was in a tray that had a lot of banged up knives. I didn't know Wally World was in the habit of selling used knives, but I looked in the box anyway, and found a small penknife, I think it was an 80T? I'm not sure, I will double check tonight, the blade is very small, but it is razor sharp. It had two Walmart labels on it, one for inventory, and the other a upc label, and it said 7.99. I figured, what the hell, I'll buy it, and clean the adhesive from the labels off. Well, it only cost me 2 bucks! I got the adhesive off just by rubbing it off with my fingers. A great little piece, I think my Schrade luck has run out though.

You might want to check your local K-Marts also, I checked mine and found several Schrade Lockbacks, the big one that looks like a Buck 110 only it has a lanyard hole, I forget the model number, $19.99.

Maybe LB7 model????

One of my favorite movies is Clint Eastwood's classic "The Outlaw Josie Wales" and my favorite character in that movie is Lone Watie, the old Indian played by Chief Dan George. Lone Watie tells of how he dressed like Abraham Lincoln when he went to Washington to meet with the Secretary of the Interior. The Secretary and the other white chiefs in Washington told the Indians "You boys sure look civilized" and they took pictures and they gave Lone Watie and the others medals for looking so civilized. When Lone Watie tells the white chiefs that the Indian land had been stolen the Secretary advises them to "endeavor to persevere." The papers publish the pictures with the caption "Indians vow to endeavor to persevere." Lone Watie then tells Josie Wales, "We thought about it for a long time 'Endeavor to persevere' and when we had thought about it long enough, we declared war on the Union." (20,000 of them from various tribe participated in this perseverence)

While no war on the Union looms in our future, we must indeed "endeavor to persevere". After all, Schradeophiles are indeed Schrade tough. And Schrade deals abound!

Cool post, great movie!

Must've been a big "WAR drobe Malfunction" for halftime to last this loooooong.... :D

Could your Kmart find be a 6OT? That's a large BAREheaded lockback with a lanyard hole. Nice knife anyway, I'm sure.

Our WalMarts must be waiting for the Pony Express to get to Arizona and tell them to run some closeouts on the Schrade slipjoints..... :(

I got the knife I grew up with, I'm just looking for an Old Timer delrin handle stockman. They had about 5 Uncle Henry stockmans in stag, anybody want me to get one? silenthunterstudios@hotmail.com. For the sake of the moderators out there, I guess this would have to be a trade :D .

Golden Bear or something...that's probably it. My older brother has a LB7 and I didn't remember it having a lanyard hole.

Is it basically the same knife just with a lanyard hole and Delrin scales?

You all are lucky, all my local stores cleared out of Shrade OT slipjoints within 2 weeks of them closing, but this is mostly rural farm country where Schrades sold BIG!
