Going to have a fire tonight so I thought it'd be a good time to break in my B11.
Chopping -
It chops on par with the CCFBM, worlds better than the BWM and not as good as the FFBM or NMFBM. The comfort while chopping however makes using it those few extra swings a pleasure, no more ringing hands. When I got it I thought I would maybe be disappointed as people compared it to a machete. Don't be fooled, it's a chopping blade, I wouldn't be out slashing through a South American rain forest with it.
Batoning -
The FFG glides through whatever you baton it through. No hang ups and the spine is plenty thick for batoning.
Cutting -
The edge wasn't amazing, plenty good for beating on but not really refined. It's a well.... factory edge. Definitely a workable edge though. Haven't sharpened mine yet, probably won't for a while.
Finish -
Even bevels, no burs, coating was all intact. The black crinkle coat wears tremendously fast. The good news is, with a FFG, the dimples will (hopefully) be ground out already so slapping a ghetto satin finish on it will take MUCH less time. I'm already considering stripping it.
In the end, the knife is as close to perfect as I have seen from BC. The only thing I would have done differently is made the thickness carry all the way to the tip, and possibly go even thicker on the spine. I'd also add a little blade height for weight.
It throws good too
I took a couple videos too, but I suck at video taking and my camera placement was NOT ideal. I'll post them when they upload. Next time the videos will be better.
