Got to run my Anyang 33 today, had some fun making a flower, drawing on a RR spike, making a chisel and just playing. Made this walking stick from 1 1/4" 1045, started as about a 12" piece, took me only 8 heats from start to finish. I tried the trick I saw John Larson do with the RR spike, draw it out to 3/8" then keep flipping it and watching it get hotter it worked good! But I didn't have any smokes hehe

Here's the cane/scepter/walkin' stick

Rivet hammers? I would love to see them if you can snap a photo Mike.

It is good to do different things, I call blade work and free hand forging "sanity work" :)

In the hammer photos the top is a piece of 4140 that the hammers were forged from. The top hammer is the original the bottom two are mine. The finish is done with a deburring wheel, I love those things.

The bottom photo is a 52100 integral hunter I'm working on for a collector. It was laying on the table so I thought I'd snap a shot of it as well.

AWESOME!

Interesting design, what is the peen end for? I love deburring wheels too, been getting into the silicon bonded abrasives also, you apply moist to a cotton wheel, let dry, then use. Rough it all out with a 60 grit then run it on the 80 grit and it looks more like 400. Bit messier but MUCH cheaper than the deburring and scotchbrite wheels. NICE integral too.

Nice little hammer Sam and Mike great looking Rivet hammers and that integral is look sweet.

I hope some day In the near future I will be strong enough to forge. Ive had 3 neck and one back surgery and I really dought that ill ever have the strength to pound with a hammer. Would a press be better cuzz I think that holding the metal while a litttle giant pounds would shake my neck to hard. Ive lost 70 % of all my muscle in my neck and my strength has gone down by 50 or 60 % for sure maybee more. Some of you forgers tell me Im nuts and should just stick with stock removal if making damascus is to physical. If its a walk in the park and a 10 year old girl could do it thats about how strong I am. Iam still able to shoot the eye out of a ghopher at a 100 yards. Mike them rivot hammers kick butt. excellemt work .

Kelly, A press is the way to go then. One miss hit on even a small hammer could bounce you off the ceiling or make it feel like you were. A press though, you could run it all day!
