Got to use my NMSFNO

I had the day off, and pushed off any obligations I had to make some time to break in my NMSFNO.

The D-guard came in very handy as I chopped because it gave me a lot of extra support from the back, as gravity pulled the knife forward.

Here are some pics. :D

Nice knife and great user pics!

If you click the 'quote' button on Steelnut's or my post, you'll see the code to embed the picture.

Richt-click on one of your pictures on your flickr page to get the pop-up menu and click 'properties' at the bottom. You'll see the URL (address) to that picture. Highlight and copy the address. it will look like "h t t p ://farm2.static.flickr.com/1174/3174199901_82a094f67e.jpg?v=0"

When you are typing your post, click the 'insert image' button on the toolbar (looks like a couple of pyramids with a stamp in a yellow box) then paste the address you copied into the box that pops up. Click OK. This will put the code into your post. I just type in the [ i m g ] tags, it's quicker when you're used to it.

Great pics! Always good to see an NMSFNO in use. :D

Is it just my weird eyes, or does the edge look the tiniest bit recurveish in some of the pics?

Mine is a touch recurved. Barely noticeable and will likely end up straight when I sharpen it up.

Paul, I forgot to say Nice D-Guard!

Actually, I have noticed that too. It is so slight that I thought I was seeing things too, I'll take more detailed pics of the edge later.

Wow, so I'm not blind yet! I should go and see if mine are like that, too. I'm a sucker for these small details. Love to hunt for them.

And yeah, that is a real nice looking d-guard!

How did she chop?:D

Well, I'm not that experienced, but I thought it felt excellent chopping.

I REALLY want a FFFBM now though!

The wood I was chopping was dead, but it seemed to be very dense and not rotten.

Towards the middle of the branch, I found it was MUCH more effective to hold the knife towards the back of the handle and rely on the D-Guard for back support, and it worked very well.

Nice.

I look forward to using mine.

Off topic: So, you're an aspiring professional photographer, P-Easy? I'm interested to hear more about your areas of photographic interest, and your professional aspirations.

Great pics! Looks like a nice job on the D Guard, I might need to pick one or two of those up.

Nice camera work. I think you will find that a NMFBM will be a superior chopper to the FFBM that your lusting after. Thats not to say that a thick ass FFBM isnt tough as hell though!:D:D:D

I agree with you.

I want the FFBM however, because of its thickness, and I don't really like the rounded edges that the NM process leaves; at least on the spine.

Also, the NMFBM has the more flat and strait spine, and I'm just not a fan.
