Just snagged an Alan Folts Hawkbill with carbon fiber scales off of Ebay today. I've never owned a blade style like this but am fond of his knives and thought it would be a nice addition to my collection.

An-tic-i-pa-tion !! :p

I like hawksbill blades, and have found them good for general utility. A lot of people like recurves, but I find the hawksbill does what a recurve is supposed to, and gives you the precision of a wharncliffe's tip besides.

I love me some hawkbill cuttin', the only issue I have with them is they tend to be wide when closed. You almost need a pocket dedicated just for the knife, but man are they wicked cutters.

Look forward to seeing pics.

Got my Alan Folts "hawkbill #12" today. I was very surprised at how nice this nice is , being the first custom I've purchased off of Ebay, which is something I normally wouldn't do ecpecially for knives. I've got a couple of Alan's Damascus "scrape" neck knives and am having another folder done so I was curious to see some more of his work, that is why I jumped on this. I am very happy with it.

Yes. Good buy. The size and shape, especially of the blade, reminds me of my Kershaw Talon. Definitely a great design, and yours is beautifully done.

I was about to say. I have mine stashed at home. Was my EDC for a few months. Love the can opener feature as well; wave and open

seems that many older english knives were warhnecliff or hawks, really i think from the number surviving that it beat out everything but the barlow.--dennis

Thanks for the replies. I contacted the maker and got some good news. It's an S30V blade, Ti liners and a prototype. His 12th folder made. And it was just there for a spa treatment. I'm a fan of his knives so this was a great catch for me.

Great catch! I've been jonesing for one of his Minimalist wharncliffe customs lately, and this makes it seem all the sweeter.
