Got wood? Part Deux.

Here is my nicest piece of Amboyna burl - 12" x 3.5" x 2.5" thick

much redder than you usually see - I've seen this called "lion's blood" - quite hard to find

very tight burl on 2 sides, and Curly figure on the other 2 !

yeah, wives are seldom impressed with the money it takes to accumulate such a supply, the storage problem it presents and the woods themselves, for that matter.

actually, although she doesn't "get it" , my wife is fortunately very indulgent of my wood fetish....but I do have to move it around from time to time, so she can't tell it is growing...

I am looking forward to seeing some of this "Compression Curl" Koa go onto some knives.
It still has to be cut up and stabilized but it is going to look good.
