Do we have any goths on BFC? I know the goth community loves knives as much as the next guy, so any goth members here give me a shout out.

I used to be, in a smallish way.....

I think of the people i know, goths are the most accepting of knives. I still have many goth friends, and they all have a few knives.

I know that there are at least one or two metal heads here, at least one punk, and maby some into ska.

I don't know what I'm classified as, because I like it all.

I`m a metal head and a number of people I know and play Vampire/Werewolf with are Goths. Some of the most intense role playing ever experienced takes place there, sometimes it gets way to emotional for comfort. One asked why a non Goth was in the group (me

Nice lot really when you get to know them, not anywhere near as bad as I at first thought. They are no where near as judgemental as most I know and more interlectual than most.

I showed a few of them my LCC D/A a couple of weeks ago and it was like going to the fair, they spent a good 30 mins playing with it and asking if I could get them one! When I told them how much it cost, we started the game and did not bring it up again...

I think they thought it would be £80 -£90 top whack...

You have to be a knifeknut to get it.

I suppose I was partial to the goth scene in my teenage years. I certainly hung around them in High School and was into the gothic/darkwave/ethereal stuff from Joy Division, Cocteau Twins, Dead Can Dance, Mephisto Walz, The Cure, Bauhaus and most of the 4AD and Projekt bands. Times change, (as did my age) so I don't go around parading in black, but the music brings back memories..

I posed this question because from when I was 15 til a month ago, I was what they would call goth. I think that my darker way of dressing was partially what got me kicked from the dorms at CSU Fresno. Read thread:

Now I've started dressing "preppy" though I never thought I'd see myself in Polo. Gotta admit, it is kinda cool... and people suspect less that I carry a knife(s).

Solid, the fact that you were kicked out sucks. But, as you grow older and wiser, these things appear trivial. You'll look back in a few years and laugh about it. Fashion/Music trends come and go, but knives are forever.

It wasn't easy to get away from the goth, but I did. Knives are a thing that I could never leave. Well put El Cid.

Well I guess I am, either that or I'm depressed all the time

You would think that I would have grown out of it by now, being 30 and all but oh well, what can ya do

Kisu, I'll be turning 32 this year, so don't feel bad. My excuse is that I'm a moody person. I still listen to some of it once in a while, but I retired the look a while ago. Eventually we all outgrow scenes like that. Can you imagine Rod Stewart or Roger Daltrey as Mods in the 21st century? They parked their Vespa scooters long ago too.

I'm not a real goth, but I hang out with them occasionally. I do listen to a little too much gothic/industrial/synthpop than is good for a person.

Yes and no. Mostly?

Kisu knows what I mean.

What's that? A bag of tricks?
No, it's a bag of knives!

Don't forget Nine Inch Nails and Skinny Puppy.

Well I used to, in fact my name on this forum used to be Kyui Gothic. But dressing like that got me into a lot of confrantations with the "conformists" and the police. And with the law looking dark and having knives didnt mix well. So I decided one had to go the black clothes or the knives. Well I'm still here so you know which went.
P.S I still have my black clothes, and I still like my trenchcoat no matter what the stereotype.

I must admit to wearing a full length leather trench coat. BTW if any of you have seen a C4/S4C prog called 'Spaced' apparently I am just like the charracter 'Mike' and John Goodman from the Big Lebowski. Well thats what everyone says to me

I also must admit that I was sort of Gothic many moons ago. But ahh... times change. I used to carry a balisong (sinister); now I usually carry a puukko (boring).

Still like Cocteau Twins though! But Joy Division: that's some pretty dirgeful stuff. New Order was a bit more palatable for me.
