My son received some of these with an experiment kit. They are soda bottle "preforms" and are how all soda bottles start out their life. Hot air is blown into these forms, which are placed in a mold to make 2 litter soda bottles. They are food grade by their very nature. If you have a teacher supply store nearby you might be able to find them and save on shipping.

Preforms are 5" x 1" and hold 1oz.
Cost is around $18.95 for 30.

Holder for a set of AA cells.
Tinder Storage
Fill with GlowPowder
Sewing Kit
Bouillon Cubes

What other uses can you think of?
 
I think they sell those at countycomm. I always wondered what they were, thanks.
 
Because they are so long and skinny, it might be difficult to get certain things out of them, like cotton tinder for example.
 
I have seen those - heat and pressure turn them into 2 liter bottles.

I thought the same - indestrutable, clear, and water proof - we have to be able to use them for something.

Now if we could just get CRR back INTO that tube... ;)

I have 3 and I keep one full of Dryer lint, and a fishing kit in th eother... last one is full of blue diamond matches
 
put a pop bottle in the microwave with some water in it and watch what happens. with gloves on put the cap on and give it a shake. i shrank one down quite small but never tried to take one down to its origonal size.
 
With I have long thin containers with cotton vaso mix I mak a little "L" shaped hook out of wire turn it back to front and slid it down the side to store turn it back the other way to "hook" the mix out.

P.S we sold those at work I think the only person who brought them knowing what he was gunna do with them was a Accupuncturist who was gunna store used needles in there so he can take them home and sterilise them. There is still a big pile of them there.

Actually you can hold a fishing kit in them. They also fit easier into a knife pouch than other bulkier containers.
 
Take a chunk of #0000 steel wool and wrap a few turns of steel snare wire around it and shove that all the way in the bottom with a long trail of steel wire leading up through it. Put some more #0000 steel wool in it alternating with cottonballs. You can just pull on the wire a little bit and have tons of tinder in one of them.

On the outside, you can get quite a few feet of Gorilla (Brand) Tape on it and then ParaCord over that.

I wish they would sell the preformed 3 liter bottle blanks, those would be great for mixing raw honey and peanut butter, etc. Larger mouth.

Marital aids? Prison wallet? You guys should find a connector so you can make a double-dong out of them and have fun with your GFs/wives back-to-back, pervs. :D
 
I wonder if they are fuel safe. A little container of white gas would be useful to have. Premixed herbs and spices for flavoring. Cocoa + sugar pre-mix. Cap a fresh fart and hand it to your friend to open.....The list seems endless.
 
I have one and the only use I've found for it is to store a serving of cocoa to keep it from getting wet or the little paper packets from getting torn up.

Some other options are things like have been recommended: batteries, tinder, fuel, farts, ...the list goes on
