Guys, just had something happen that was very uncool. Gotta bitch about it.

Was contacted about a knife I had listed here on BF. Guy said he really really wanted it, but did not have quite enough money. We haggled for awhile and I dropped my price a little so that he could get it. (I almost never drop my prices!) After three weeks of not recieving payment, I e-mailed him to find out what was up. He said that he would have to pass because he did not have the money. There was something about a deal not going through. Doesn't matter! I guess his cybershake is no longer binding!

Please, do not ever do this to a maker. I pulled the knife and held it for three weeks. It could have sold several times over in that period. Now I am having to relist it. For many makers this is our living. I for one do not like being toyed with. This forumite shall remain nameless, but the only way he will get one of my knives now is through the secondary market!

His loss will be someone else's gain. You're a good dude and a fair man, I am sorry this took the bread off your table. Uncool. He should have been man enough to come right back and tell you he couldn't aford it. He should have kept up on communication. He lost your trust and doesn't deserve it.

Definitely not cool. Be up front and honest and let the cards fall where they may. He should have had te balls to drop you a line at the first sign things weren't coming together. On the positive side, I am sure that it will move quickly :)

On a side note, did you get my emails this morning? I really hate to bring it up in your post, but the mail servers don't seem too reliable. Everything is a go, but I do have a couple of changes. Check your mail and hopefully it got through. Thanks.

Jamie

Blademan, yah got it. I drop you a line a little later. The sheath and steel changes will drop the price. Just gotta figure out how much.

What really bugs me about this is the fact that he cried poverty and then backed out once I met what he could offer. If somebody wants to kick the tires, thats cool. I will sit and chew the fat for hours. But don't talk price unless you are seriuos!

And if something happens where you cant get it at least let the maker know so he can sell it to someone else.

There is nothing more important and nothing more binding than a "cyber-handshake". Assuming you are both dealing on the up and up, you just have to deal on the up and up.
If you negotiate the best price possible and the knife is held for you, the only honorable thing to do is pay for it.
Unless it is some catastrophic event, all you have on an internet forum is your word. if you blow that, you are useless...........wolf:(

Just had a guy "jack me off".Still bothers me after all these years of buying and selling(Corvetts, guns, motorcycles ect)
You think I would learn.
