Just won an orange rescue "mint" for $30 delivered!!!!!!! off ebay.

Might replace my older endura as my duty knife.

How's ATS-55?

AT-55 was suppose to be the next best steal after ATS-34, but I think something else came along-- VG-10 maybe, so ATS-55 was replaced.
Nice snag on Ebay!
 
You are only safe if you stay away from Ebay. I used to check it daily+; now I'm not even sure I remember my password. My savings thanks me. :)

No reason to not like ATS-55...IIRC it is ATS-34 with one changed ingredient that was made up especially for Spyderco.

Disclaimer, I may be mixing steels in my head.
 
As I recall, there were a couple of changes made. The molybdenum content was cut way back (it was there to provide high temperature properties not needed in a pocket knife) and cobalt was added. I also recall Sal posting that VG-10 and ATS-55 were field tested together, and VG-10 ended up edging out ATS-55 to become the new standard steel for the main line-up.
 
I have to say... I never get tired of buying a new Spyderco.

Just received the orange rescue (93mm) in ATS-55 and it's beatiful. The pictures never seem to do them justice.

Even the clip looks to be a shiny stainless or polished steel. It is used but not a mark on it.

It might be too pretty to use as my duty knife... my Endura is more beat up and this one has more character.

I hate not wanting to use good knives... they just collect in the sock drawer.
