Interesting jig. I'll have to try and build something similar.

I have to say I used the same (Gough jig) to make much smaller knife with the same thickness. It did take me a very long time to finish the flat ground (even starting with a steeper angle it takes a lot of time).
Natlek's jig looks like a metal version of the Gough jig. The interesting thing is to use it for sanding. I will likely try that but I need to figure out how to attach the sand paper holder (can't weld).
I use nicholson files.
I'll see about how to attach. I use hose clamps which wouldn't be big enough but I can probably by bigger ones. I'll need to see about finding thick enough iron but I really want to try this for my next knife as I have had issues keeping the separation between bevel and non bevel crisp when hand sanding.
I am working on a very similar project. It took me about 6 hours for 1 side. I have been dreading doing the other side because it just takes so long. Good work, I know your pain lol.![]()

Wow very nice job, looks like a perfect satin finish. How did you get the plunge line so perfect and did you buy the 52100 in a flat stock or did you have to forge it?
