Grail Gun Inbound....

Congrats on the sweet pickup Garth. I've got one but haven't even shot it yet (live in Cali and have 2 barrels, 1 threaded / 1 non-threaded to make it legal). I've shot many others and it's a great one the feel with the ergos of a 1911!

this are some of mine, did not have any room to set the pistols in this picture!

WOW. There sure are some amazing HK collections floating around here. Great to be in the company of so many like minded people. Thanks for sharing Hogs.

here's a few more to add:

Okay, I see a PSG-1 on the vertical right, but is that an MSG90 on the vertical left or a modded 91? VERY NICE!!!

EDIT: I see "close to muzzle" attached bi-pods on both, so they are probably modded 91's. I know the PSG-1 has a tri-pod and the MSG90's bi-pod sits further back on the foregrip. Still nice!!

I have been looking at PSG-1s all over the country for a few years. Just have not had it in me to drop that much on a rifle YET. Someday perhaps.

I would like nothing more to have a Mark 23, congratulations. I am definitely outgunned here. :)

Hey Garth, have you ever held one in person? I saw one at a gunshow about 6 years ago and MY GOD was it nice. I think the dealer was asking 14k for it. The guy manning the table wasn't going to let me touch it until I reminded him of how much money I had spent at his boss's store. The used ones demand over 10k now days. I would have preferred an MSG90, just because it fits in the medium to long range type, not just long range like the PSG-1. Too bad its receiver only accepts non-civilian trigger packs :(

Yeah I had one in my hands a few years ago at Knob Creek. New in case, could have owned it for around 12k. Despite the peer pressure from some friends I let it go. Just couldn't justify that money for one gun. I know we say "No Regrets" around here but in this case maybe a few regrets.

H&K 7.62mm rifles don't really light my fire, PSG1s were issue to the SASR and Police here at different times but, to be 100% honest (in 7.62) I think the H&Ks are just pigs to operate .. :) Now 33s and 53s are a totally different story.... :) I pack a G36k and UMP from time to time and they are OK. In 7.62 it is go FAL or go home ... :D

I really love the P7s !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's a big gun,but easy to shoot and pretty accurate....I carry a USP45c

Hk Kool Aid is good :D

Garth, congratulations on a very sweet gun, I can't wait to hear your thoughts on it once you get to use it.

I recently had a similar experience getting a grail.
I had a very hard time choosing between the HK MK23 and the FNH FNP-45T but local availability and a screaming end of the year sale pushed me to the FN side.
It is the nicest shooting 45 I have ever fired and fits my hand perfect, so I am very happy with the choice so far.
I love the extra barrel length provided by the threaded portion, it gets the muzzle blast further away from the sights.
It reliably ate everything I have fed it so far as well.
Someday I might own both if I can swing it but I want to get an RMR and a can for this one first.
With 15 rounds in the mag it weighs the same as my 8 round Combat Commander 1911.

Garth

When I bought mine I paid $7000 , it had been fired 8 rounds, a year later a Dr. offered my $12,500 for it.
At 18 plus pounds it was a pig, it went to a new owner.

I have had 3 Mark 0's, great shooters and when fired side by side with Sigs they were much quieter to shoot, but they were also pigs in size and they all went bye-bye too.

I still have a safe full of 91/33 and 93/41/53 parts along with MP5 stuff left, but I never shoot them any more.
The P7M8's are sweet, the M10 and P7M13's are pigs, I have a Tactical with all kinds of crap with it in the safe, had it for years and never shot it.

Also have a stretch 89 and around 100 30rd 94 mags for it.

And 10K for a rifle is too much? Hahahahahahaha....Tell Jerry to give you a raise ;)

The FNP45T is the gun I was debating on between it and the HK45. My range has both. I ended up going with the HK45. because of the single action feel. For me the FNP had a better double action, wheres the HK had the better single action. Ergonomics were a toss up for me since I have long fingers. They both felt great in hand. In the end I also preferred the looks of the HK45 a tad more than the FNP. Eventually, I swapped out the da/sa for an LEM trigger (short 4.5 pound double action only trigger pull with like .25 inch reset and no overtravel). It's a great shooter. With my reloads, I shoot full power loads that feel like I'm shooting 9mm.

Digging these tritium two dot night sights too. Very low profile.

All I can add to this thread is a sweet shooting antique and a sharp poke in the eye. ;)

Or as TNRat calls it, my "Skuh-weeze-cok-kuh."

Please convert that UMC back to UMP status and SBR it before another kitten dies. :)

Congrats on a terrific pistol, ive had mine since '99 and its had in over 3000 rounds not one failure. Youll love it. Now if i can just get my new Falcon from Nighthawk but 11 months is a long time to wait!
